Collective Myth: May 2006
http://collectivemyth.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Our interaction with the things that we watch, listen to, and read does, in some sense, define us. Saturday, May 27, 2006. Since I almost always have a DVD playing when I’m hanging out at the apartment, I’ve seen some of the movies on that shelf countless times. Oddly enough, one of the films that holds up viewing after viewing and that I continue to watch quite often is 40 Days and 40 Nights. That 2002 comedy in which Josh Hartnett’s character, Matt, gives up sex for lent. 40 Days and 40 Nights. He coul...

Collective Myth: July 2006
http://collectivemyth.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Our interaction with the things that we watch, listen to, and read does, in some sense, define us. Saturday, July 15, 2006. Once in a while comes a film that crosses the bad-good continuum in reverse, a film so terrible that somehow it becomes good. For many, Starship Troopers. Comes to mind, but the movie I have in mind had a far lower budget and an exponentially lower profile. To a great many who have seen it, Jack Frost. Some of the readership of this blog might recall the first time I saw Jack Frost.

The Love Project: 12/2008
http://loveproject.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Love: what a stupid experiment. Friday, December 26, 2008. A Maudlin, Juvenile New Year That Needs to Grow Up. The beginning of 2008 was rather awful. This is an understatement. Mostly I slept, cried, drank too much, and threw up whatever I tried to eat. There's nothing like a close friend almost dying, then verbally assaulting you because you got sad after listening to two months' worth of his tragic stories. Technology Brings Us Closer( ish. And (sigh) World of Warcraft. Is entirely the fault of my lit...

Collective Myth: January 2006
http://collectivemyth.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Our interaction with the things that we watch, listen to, and read does, in some sense, define us. Monday, January 16, 2006. Uma Thurman in an ice fishing hut.what could be better? If I'm going to talk about "going home" movies, or high school reunion movies, it's clear that I cannot neglect Beautiful Girls. Of course, the "going home" that takes place for Timothy Hutton's character is almost wholly different from what Martin Blank experiences in Grosse Pointe Blank. Did any of you do something similar?

Collective Myth: June 2006

Our interaction with the things that we watch, listen to, and read does, in some sense, define us. Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Hard deck my ass.we nailed that son of a bitch! If I were to list a few of the films I think to be great, I’m sure that many would shoot me an are-you-out-of-your-mind facial expression. This, of course, since I’m terribly arrogant and always right, means that these people simply don’t understand those particular films’ claims to greatness. Immediately comes to mind. In the impressio...

The Love Project: A Letter to Jason Mraz
http://loveproject.blogspot.com/2008/04/letter-to-jason-mraz.html
Love: what a stupid experiment. Monday, April 21, 2008. A Letter to Jason Mraz. Jason, I remember the first time I heard you singing on the radio. I said to my boyfriend at the time, "I really like this song. This guy has a great voice.". He said, "I think it's stupid.". It should surprise no one that he is long gone, and you still remain, a little flame warm under the skin. We had never imagined it was possible. We didn't even have cameras. There was just your palm against my palm, your palm against all...
