Monday, August 10, 2015. That pesky granulation tissue. Timmy is back from surgery and we have to stick around for a few hours for observation. He had overactive scar tissue, also called granulation tissue, that was partially blocking his airway. Granulation tissue can grow quickly and is dangerous if not caught early, so it is good that we got here when we did. It could have been a far more serious situation later tonight. The Prince Who Was Just Himself is a lovely children's book with a message that is near and dear to my heart: children with Down syndrome offer something important to society. Thursday, July 23, 2015. Thursday afternoon, and some specific requests. The two IV antibiotics he is on seem to be helping to fight this nasty visitor; otherwise, they would expect his lungs to look even worse. As it is, they look and sound better. Even so, they're not taking any chances and are bringing out the big gun antibiotic vancomycin to make sure that he is in top shape for extubation tomorrow at noon. His GI system is now moving nicely, so thank you for your prayers in that matter!

Friday, July 24, 2015. Extubation is on for noon! Timmy had a good night and his doctor reports that he looks and sounds great. Extubation is on for noon in the OR! Last time, it took 45 minutes for him to wake up so it may take some time before he returns to his room and we're allowed to see him. The kids are very excited; we've all missed him! Friday, May 31, 2013. The baby mantas hatched! Sunday, May 19, 2013. My bug crazy kids. We have Preying mantiss waiting to hatch and caterpillars everywhere. The kids have a ball catching bugs. Jack made a roly poly playground the other day. This helmet was cool, until i got thirsty! Monday, April 29, 2013. We went to a really nice private fishing area with The Hatch Family- everyone got bites- the boys all caught a couple fish and released them all. Super fun trip- we cant wait to go again!
