Feb 5th, 2010 10:32 am. I will be starting EMT-B training in two weeks. So excited! I eventually want to become a paramedic. Any tips for someone new to the field? 2010-02-06 09:11 am (UTC). If you've never run EMS before, do some ride alongs - make sure you really like the field. Study hard, everything is important. Practice skills over and over, things get much easier when the motions feel natural. BSI or universal precautions or whatever they're calling it these days! Good luck, EMS is awesome!
