Life and Stuff: July 2009
http://crossingmeadows.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 16, 2009. Last full day of the Vacation. We left Santa Cruz around 8:30 and headed north on highway 1 along the coastline. There was off and on fog along the way - making the drive even more scenic. We stopped at several places - a lighthouse and a very small town/village that was just off the main road. This is one of my favorite parts of California. It's amazing that it can be so close to San Francisco and yet so different. We'll be flying out of San Francisco today. Mom and Dad have...

Life and Stuff: The week in Indy
http://crossingmeadows.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-week-in-indy_29.html
Sunday, July 29, 2012. The week in Indy. This week was spent at in Indianapolis for the Brickyard 400. I had my normal travel day on tuesday and went to work on wednesday. I had a normal work week, but the speedway here is a tough one for putting out our equipment. It's so spread out and difficult to get to many of the camera positions and our telemetry base station positions. Later on friday afternoon, I went to the movies and then had dinner. It was a fun relaxing day. They only sang 3 songs: Their hit...

Life and Stuff: February 2010

Saturday, February 20, 2010. Hanging out in Southern California. I'm in SoCal this week - in the L.A. basin. Specifically, I'm in the town of Fontana- which is at the NE corner of L.A. Jan and I used to live about an hour west of here. It's a nice place to visit, but I don't miss living here at all. Working this track is nice. It's out in front of Cucamonga Peak, so the view is really nice while I'm out working. This is the only escalator that I can think of in Nascar. Links to this post.

Life and Stuff: March 2010

Friday, March 19, 2010. Front Porch Project - Phase 1. This is the front porch and entryway after I've trued up the edges of the step. It wasn't a 90 degree angle and it wasn't square. During my last week off, I started working on my front porch. I've never liked the surface of our front porch, it was poured concrete and was not very pretty. A couple of years ago, I purchased a couple of large outdoor carpets and put on it and it looked okay. The completed "phase one" with the front doors open. Star-Stud...

Sunday, January 17, 2010. Lighting the Elbow Cay Light. Being on Elbow Cay - in the Hopetown area is a really special thing. We had some friends on boats there and met new ones and so our visit to this corner of Abaco was quite social. One of the landmarks that is associated with Hopetown is the red and white lighthouse that was built there in the 1860's and still watches over the area - warning sailors of the dangerous reefs just offshore. Jeffery getting a new mantel ready for the light. So, that was m...

Life and Stuff: Catching up on the last few weeks
http://crossingmeadows.blogspot.com/2012/07/catching-up-on-last-few-weeks.html
Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Catching up on the last few weeks. Yeah, so I said I was going to update the blog more often - that's not been going so well. I'll try to do better. So here's what's happened in the last few weeks - mostly explained in photos. From Michigan, I flew directly to San Francisco for the Sonoma Race. Rather than fly all the way back to Florida on monday - just to get on a plane again early on tuesday, I spent a layover day in the Bay Area. A year ago, I helped my niece Nicole get a job ...

Life and Stuff: Another active day
http://crossingmeadows.blogspot.com/2012/07/another-active-day.html
Saturday, July 21, 2012. Keeping with my promise to myself of more activity, today I decided to partake in 2 separate sports. The first one was a good 'carve boarding' session on the only hill around here. About 10 years ago, Jan bought me a carve board for my birthday. A carve board is sort of a cross between a skateboard and a surfboard. It has big grippy tires and it 'carves' like a surf board. It's a lot of fun and I used to ride it fairly often on the hills on the Outer Banks. For anyone who's inter...

Life and Stuff: April 2012
http://crossingmeadows.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 27, 2012. Well, it's been a year and a half since I updated my blog. I guess that's what Facebook will do to you. Although I really enjoy the bilateral-ness of fb, I miss the 'diary feel' of a blog. I may make a half-hearted attempt to blog more. With that in mind, here we go. Our front porch with it's newly painted ceiling and new light fixture. Click for larger version. So, I went to Home Depot to get some of this blue paint. No one there had ever heard of such a thing. Off to Low...After...
