Sociology for now!: December 2009
http://socfornow.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 17, 2009. Face to the race. After doing the activity pairing the face to the race, I realized pretty much all assumptions about physical traits of races are all stereotypes that often are not even correct. We grow up learning information about race that is not true. Why else would our class only get 4 of the 20 pictures correct? Saturday, December 12, 2009. Thursday, December 3, 2009. Thursday, October 29, 2009. The Media's Influence on Girls. This week in class we discussed the negative influence that the media has specifically on girls. I love the Dove Self-Esteem Fund because it promotes girls loving themselves for who they are, not by how they look. The picture above was used by Dove as an advertisment for the Self-Esteem Fund. I saw this picture on a billboard in Chicago a few months ago, and I remember thinking to myself, "wow how unusual.normal sized models!

Sociology for Later: Monopobility
http://socforlater.blogspot.com/2009/12/monopobility.html
Wednesday, December 9, 2009. December 9, 2009 at 9:37 PM. It really was frustrating. But how would you help out people of a lower social class? Would you hand out welfare like you received yourself or would you try to educate them pro bono? December 10, 2009 at 3:24 PM. I felt bad for you. It wasnt your fault you started in poverty and had continuous bad luck throughout the game. Thats just like it is in society too, and there is little we can do about it. December 10, 2009 at 8:45 PM.

Sociology for now!: January 2010
http://socfornow.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 7, 2010. Not only has sociology helped me think about who I am differently, I have also thought about the people around me. Doing community service made me realize that other people are not as fortunate and it was a an interesting experience to see how different someones life can be that lives only a short drive away. It definitely made me rethink what my goals are in life and what would make me content. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm a senior in highschool. View my complete profile.
