We know this music is bad for us. We still don't care. 30 March 2015 - Echosmith - Cool Kids. I've been seriously deficient on the recent pop hits, haven't I? Well, deficiency, be gone! I think the song is a little strange. After all, by virtue of being in a band, they are already the cool kids. But it's a fun song - a bit of an 80's throwback, in my opinion. It's fun, and I like that an unknown little band of kids suddenly had a top 20 hit. But, they're still a bunch of cool kids. But it's more than that.

Today, the great Kacey Musgraves releases her 2nd album, Pageant Material. My former co-author, Scott, and I agree on the greatness of Kacey Musgraves, which is kind of a rarity. I've not necessarily a huge country music fan. Kacey Musgraves doesn't get much radio airplay (which is criminal). Queen of the Clouds.

She is a Chinese-American, born in Chicago to Stephanie and Bennet Wang. Put a pin in dad's name. We're coming back to it in a minute. She moved to China - at age 15 - to become a pop star. Quickly learning Mandarin, she released her debut single - "Uh Oh" - in both Mandarin. Let me help you a little with that. And now you know.

This song is fun, and this might be the most bizarre, inventive and awesome video in the last few year. And as much as I just wanted to let this one go, and stop it with the Charli XCX posts. She is one of the most original pop artists today. She's a reasonably prolific songwriter. Charli XCX posts are usually the most widely read ones on this blog. No Not gonna happen.

And it has a great story! David Guetta recorded the song with Mary J. Blige. And it was really good. But he probably should have told Sia he was going to do that BEFORE she heard it on the radio. Well, the rest, to be sure, is pop history, a critical and commercial success that kickstarted Sia's performing career. ...
