About Socks and Chocs. A lot of people doing a little, is better than a few people doing a lot. That’s the motto of ex armed serviceman Ian Northcott. AKA the “Busking Bobby”). In 2010 he decided he wanted to do something to help the homeless people of Birmingham and that’s where Socks and Chocs began. It is now national and a registered charity with the Charity Commission. Ian started his career as a soldier. He was out in the field, tired, cold, and wet. The army insisted that he put on a pair of clean, dry socks each day. He didn’t realise the importance at first, but the simple pleasure of a warm pair of socks, made a great deal of difference. Then, in 2013 something extraordinary happened.
