Becoming Heralds: Open University A150 - Dickens' Hard Times
http://becomingheralds.blogspot.com/2013/03/open-university-a150-dickens-hard-times.html
Saturday, March 2, 2013. Open University A150 - Dickens' Hard Times. I'm reading Hard Times as part of my Open University A150 course, and really enjoying it. I never liked Dickens' work before but this novel, though it seems a very 'easy read' is extremely interesting in its use of language. The narrator here is often polemical, satirical and downright bombastic when he is not being - by modern standards - somewhat over-sentimental. Saturday, March 02, 2013. I am an aspiring Catholic theologian and philosopher, and I have a keen interest in apologetics. I am creating this blog both in order to practice and improve my writing and memory retention as I publish my thoughts, and in order to give evidence of my ability to understand and communicate thoughts on topics pertinent to Theology, Philosophy, philosophical theology, Catholic (Christian) Apologetics, philosophy of religion and textual criticism. Becoming Heralds: Stop Reading and Start Doing!
http://becomingheralds.blogspot.com/2013/01/stop-reading-and-start-doing.html
Friday, January 18, 2013. Stop Reading and Start Doing! This is my second motivational post - directed mainly to myself. I need to declutter and get organised. My problem is that I love books, and I love reading, and too often I turn to my reading before. Doing other things that need to be done. As a result I am always 'going to' do things, but they never actually get done. Starting now [how many times have I said that before! I am going to start focusing on the process. In this day and age of social med...

Sober Inebriation: "Church and State"
http://soberinebriationblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/church-and-state.html
A Blog intended for a range of issues touching on the purpose for man's existence; a purpose nicely summed (and here paraphrased) in the old Baltimore Catechism: We were made to know, love and serve God in this world, and to enjoy Him forever in the next. Sunday, February 28, 2010. When Thomas Jefferson spoke - and in a public capacity - about things like liberty as the "gift of God", was he, to his mind, speaking in the language of faith? Consult, for example, the diatribe against faith called the.

Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Lent: a chance to practice Mortification of imagination, memory and intelligence? Would we be willing to face prison or worse rather than betray it? Crimson Catholic: Theories of Christian dogma
http://crimsoncatholic.blogspot.com/2009/02/theories-of-christian-dogma.html
Saturday, February 21, 2009. Theories of Christian dogma. I have recently become emboldened to speak more strongly on matters of doctrinal development. This is because I believe that discussions on the subject have been dancing around the facts that I consider dispositive of the issue. I find the occasion of Michael Liccione's reply to an objection. It remains for me only to deploy the forces rightly so as to cut off the retreat. I view the following as the key statement in Dr. Liccione's reply:. ML In g...
