Dyers Chamomile, fresh flower heads, alum mordant, pure Finn fleece (white), equals delightful soft lemony fibre – limitless projects, especially for babies and small children. Finn has no prickle factor that some don’t like with wool. Actually, well prepared wool with the short fibres and rubbish removed should not cause any discomfort to the skin (exception are those with allergies). This entry was posted in General. Decembe...

A blog on textiles, fibres, spinning. There is more to life than ‘dust’! Wild Fibres →. When there is too much wool, learn a new skill! September 17, 2011. Solar dyed handspun singles that I spun some time ago. The “L” Plates are firmly fastened as I attempt to learn a new skill. The warp is millspun grey wool, with handspun being used in the weft, and tufts of hand dyed silk, tussah because I like the look, randomly woven in. Plain weave and twill tomorrow. And this on the bobbin. Wild Fibres →. It make...

My life of words, baking, cooking, and music. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Christian Mingle… The True Life Story! So I said I would never blog about this. Yet, here I am. I guess as the old adage goes, never say never. Actually that saying also applies to dating sites in general. Yes, I was one of those people that always said I would never join a dating site, never! In April of 2009 my parents, my sister Cecily. Yep, I saved this! I just had to! I was in disbelief that she would even consider signing up for...

Softly Strumming | a tribute to my dad
A tribute to my dad. The First Father’s Day. It’s raining right now. It’s not supposed to be raining. I checked weather.com 30 minutes ago–0% chance of rain; the radar showed all rain north of us. But it’s raining. The day of Dad’s funeral it not only rained–it poured; buckets of water like the torrents of tears that were also shed that week. Today is a nice, easy summer rain. But still cloudy and sad. Just like it’s OK for me to take a moment, watch the rain, and be sad today. June 15, 2014. I’ve ...
