Soulstice: Hazy Lazy
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2012/08/hazy-lazy.html
Music and other loves. Wednesday, August 8, 2012. I'm in a sudafed cloud. It's a small miracle I'm typing actual words right now. You know twenty minutes after you take some medicine there's a window of opportunity to do things? I'll go vote, read, make some food. This is a mistake. It set me back what is hopefully just an extra day (fingers crossed). Do not seize that moment. Rest, friends. Rest. Have I shared some Wendy Rene. With you all before? Her sweet voice put me to bed earlier. Down on the corner.

Soulstice: March 2012
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Music and other loves. Thursday, March 29, 2012. Trapped in the closet. You know when you go to the thrift store and you find that thing that you've been searching for forever? It's great, right? You know when you rent an apartment and you open the closet and you find old photographs in a worn out shoebox and you spend hours imagining who the photographer was, why they took them, etc? PS James Taylor and Michael Caine. So Perfect. Sunday, March 25, 2012. She was a tomboy. It was an intimate show with a s...

Soulstice: January 2012
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Music and other loves. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Alan Lomax, folk historian and one of the greatest collectors of folk music from around the world, has given us the ultimate gift: His collection! I read this last night. So, here's a peek. Thanks, Alan. And as a nice coincidence, happy birthday to you (January 31, 1915). PS I spent the day in Washington D.C. on sunday for the first time. If you happen to go to the Adams Morgan neighborhood this is the spot for falafel. Sorry, the website is awful). Is re...

Soulstice: Droid brain
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2012/04/droid-brain.html
Music and other loves. Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Internet was down for a bit. I forgot I had a blog for a quick second. I'm under the Instagram spell and I can't seem to to tear myself away enough to post videos and songs I've been loving. It is pretty awesome though, right? It's Facebook without the ranting and bitching and baby "success stories" of the day(oh look, little billy learned how to shit IN his diaper! I found an LP of rare tracks from Yemen(45s) compiled by Chris Menist. Oh to be home again.

Soulstice: Down on the corner

Music and other loves. Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Down on the corner. Informative and heavy but here's something I enjoyed following that piece. One of my favorite local music writers, Brian Smith, has a fantastic cover story on local musician Kenny Tudrick. His romantic imagery and style have always kept me reading. Check it out. Music and other loves. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Oh to be home again. You've left behind endless songs and stories for all of us. A beautiful ode to the land we call home. More importantly, you ended your life as you wanted: ramblin' on with a smile on your face. Thanks for making me love music more than I thought I ever could. Love to you, Levon. Three years ago I watched this video. It's been a happy obsession ever since. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Oh to be home again.

Soulstice: November 2011
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Music and other loves. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. PS I saw Like Crazy. It's all kinds of tiny emotional tortures. Initially sweet and optimistic, details seem to be the make or breaking point, which is very unromantic(but realistic all the same, right? A part of me wanted them to give up altogether. I would also like to feel less cynical. A little plug and love for a Baltimore local label. We listened to this while making thanksgiving lattes at work. Friends Records. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Soulstice: October 2011
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Music and other loves. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. I don't consider myself knowledgeable in regards to classical music. If it's horrible, I probably wouldn't know it. But this I can identify on first listen. It's an original classical composition by Armenian born composer, Gurdjieff redistributed by musician Levon Eskenian. It combines so many heartbreaking instruments-the oud, flute, etc. It's almost like a short travel through the Middle East. I'm glad I stumbled upon this. Thursday, October 20, 2011.

Soulstice: December 2011
http://thesoulstice.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Music and other loves. Wednesday, December 21, 2011. It was gonna be this. So I was eagerly planning to write about all the music I've been finding lately.I hate you best of lists, but sometimes you attribute to a few new albums in my listening experience. Sidenote: I found a record store in Baltimore that reminds me of all the affordable vinly shops that I love in Detroit. Damn, someone got the price and selection right. El Suprimo. Anyways, my plan was put to the side when I read this story. I know I l...
