Sewing my way to a handmade home. Tulip Quilt pattern (free! Rainbow raspberry kiss quilt top. August 17, 2016. After much indecision, here’s what I came up with! Still a rainbow, but not as linear as my initial arrangement. I added more warm blocks to better balance out the cools, and I mixed the blocks up a bit so the color transitions wouldn’t be too harsh. If I’m honest, I’m not 100% happy with it, but I am NOT ripping out any seams at this point! I may have to use the huge table at Gather Here.

This weekend I drafted an initial skirt sloper using the same book I used for my bodice sloper. Like last time, I’ve included two side views below: one in my normal standing posture, and one with my arms out of the way so you can see the side seams. Aren’t these muslin shots so glamorous? So much to learn! 2 – I ...

This is my dithyramb. Gateways to Sewing Knowledge. Hits and Misses: T-Shirts, Exercise Top, Exercise Leggings. April 10, 2015. During the winter I had wanted a long-sleeved boat (bateau) neck shirt pattern. I had some fabric in mind for it and I thought it would be a useful addition to my pattern library since it’s a style that is versatile enough to work in casual and more dressed up settings. I took the basic t-shirt pattern with long, fluted sleeves from the book. Alabama Studio Sewing Design. The fa...
