LikeItSpicy: Cooking Up A Storm: Vegetable Korma
http://likeitspicy.blogspot.com/2013/02/cooking-up-storm-vegetable-korma.html
Cooking Up A Storm: Vegetable Korma. Being sequestered at home for thirty-six hours as an entire family unit is quite the social experiment. As Nemo raged, we did all the things one is supposed to do with loved ones during an unexpected long weekend with two feet of snow rapidly piling up outside. Then things began to unravel pretty rapidly. I decided that the best way to weather the storm was to cook up one. Much animal protein was consumed for 48 hours before I decided it may not be a bad idea to inclu...

LikeItSpicy: The Mice Who Loved Me: Hara-Bhara Chicken

The Mice Who Loved Me: Hara-Bhara Chicken. I started the New Year by grumpily strolling into my kitchen at an ungodly hour. I stepped on a toy, stubbed my toe, balefully glared at three weeks of mail piled up on the counter and desultorily poured myself a cup of coffee. After my head cleared enough for me to survey the surroundings, my eyes took in a desolate loaf of multigrain bread, two rotting bananas, a bottle of gin and a mouse. I kid you not. Needless to say, my forays into the kitchen have been fe...

LikeItSpicy: Coffee, Tea Or...Chickpeas
http://likeitspicy.blogspot.com/2010/06/coffee-tea-orchickpeas.html
Coffee, Tea Or.Chickpeas. The Boy sneakily hit the submit button on Amazon when I was attempting to educate the Youngling on the feasibility (or lack thereof) of procuring a hamster (or maybe it was a Guinea pig. Or both). I love coffee. And it needs to be a good, strong cup of coffee. And I am a bear if I don’t get caffeinated first thing in the morning. But I was faced with mastering a control panel to get a cup with crema. I suppose The Boy was terrified I would invoke the return policy, and so he dut...

LikeItSpicy: Steak and Bake: Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

Steak and Bake: Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. The man had a birthday recently. An orgy of biblical proportions (the eating kind) was planned, which ended up with the consummate carnivore making his way through 33 ounces of pure meat. I told him to buy his birthday present himself. And I decided to bake a cake. So I could, you know, contribute something to the festivities. Pineapple Upside Down Cake. 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, melted. 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar. 1 can pineapple (rings).

LikeItSpicy: Third Time Lucky: Kori Gashi
http://likeitspicy.blogspot.com/2010/03/third-time-lucky-kori-gashi.html
Third Time Lucky: Kori Gashi. Life has been filled with food-and-drink disappointments lately. Date night. Two weeks ago. We have dinner reservations at an old favorite. And arrive an astounding 45 minutes early in our zest to stuff our faces sans child. We gleefully run across the street to a watering hole, another old haunt. And a Friday night staple before parenthood struck. Imagine my horror when I am presented with a muffin. Topped with a listless caramel sauce. This dish hails from my neck of the w...
