Building a Brown/Bieker Proa: February 2015
http://proa32.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Building a Brown/Bieker Proa. Construction of a 32 foot Jester Class Offshore Proa. Monday, February 16, 2015. The plans call for four hat-shaped brackets on the back of the main bulkheads to carry the akas. These are simple e-glass structures. Further structural steps on the akas will keep them from laying flat, so these need to be moulded now. Task time: 8 hours. Total project time: 490 hours. Saturday, February 14, 2015. I ended up laying battens on the sides to dam up fairing compound. I then san...

Blue Collar Motos Metal Foundry: I would love to get my hands on this!
http://bluecollarmotosmetalfoundry.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-would-love-to-get-my-hands-on-this.html
Wednesday, May 4, 2011. I would love to get my hands on this! A friend on Facebook sent me this pic a few weeks ago. This nice piece was on Ebay for sale. Wouldn't be so tough to make. Would be cast in three pieces with two optional pieces cast for either a two stroke oil reservoir. Or a battery tray in the hump. Would be a great piece to cast in aluminum! I'm thinking my RD400 project is gonna have something similar on it some time next year. Blue Collar Motos Metal Foundry. Torrance, Ca, United States.

Building a Brown/Bieker Proa: Dry Fitting first Ama Hull Panels
http://proa32.blogspot.com/2015/06/dry-fitting-first-ama-hull-panels.html
Building a Brown/Bieker Proa. Construction of a 32 foot Jester Class Offshore Proa. Thursday, June 18, 2015. Dry Fitting first Ama Hull Panels. I got the bulkheads firmly attached and then moved on to the main ama panels. These were wired together at both bows and then dropped as a envelope over the bulkheads. Some of the bulkhead tabs required sanding to fit into the slots. The glass and epoxy had widened them. Future builders may want to skip glassing the tabs as much of it is sanded away.

Building a Brown/Bieker Proa: Attaching Ama Panels

Building a Brown/Bieker Proa. Construction of a 32 foot Jester Class Offshore Proa. Sunday, June 28, 2015. The last week has been a lot of gluing, filleting and sanding on the main ama planks. After wiring things into place, I did an initial glue up. Using a small syringe, I put a bead of thickened adhesive epoxy along the bulkhead plank intersections. A small syringe allows you to force a bit of epoxy between the two surfaces. Stem wired for glueing. Initial glue joint between bulkhead and plank. Dry Fi...
