Only Somewhat Boring

Thursday, 9 August 2012. Well, we're home at last. We've had a fabulous adventure, but we're ready to be home and get on with life. Our "Beaches of the World" leg took us to:. Karon Beach, Phuket, Thailand. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Queensland, Australia. Bondi Beach, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (albeit after dark). Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA. Dickenson Bay, Antigua. So I'm calling that a success! For example, we found ourselves in so many places at just the right time:.

Only Somewhat Boring: Fantastic Fiji

http://somebore.blogspot.com/2012/07/fantastic-fiji.html

Saturday, 14 July 2012. Having arrived after dark, the next morning we were very keen to open the curtains in our room and we were not disappointed when we did, we were met with the sight of swaying palm trees, bright blue sky, and waves crashing in the distance onto the reef. So not a bad first impression! There were two 'islands' just off the shore, one accessed by a causeway, the other one at low tide. We walked to the one over the causeway, which gave us a good view of the resort. In the evening in t...

Only Somewhat Boring: November 2010

http://somebore.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Friday, 19 November 2010. Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with nearly 2000 limestone islets. I built my current itinerary around seeing Angkor Wat and staying overnight on Halong Bay, which necessitated seeing Viet Nam north to south, working back toward Cambodia. It's been worth it - Halong Bay is beautiful and mystical. I was up to see the sunset and the following sunrise. However, neither was visible - the greyness just faded to black and then got bright again. Apparently, the big change w...

Only Somewhat Boring: March 2012

http://somebore.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 20 March 2012. One of the issues hovering in the background for the whole of our lap of Argentina and Chile was coming up with a schedule that would get us into Chile and back, then up to Iguazú and then land us back in Buenos Aires in time to fly home, all without killing ourselves in the process but maximising our enjoyment. For the first day we decided to drive only four hours to Posadas, to give us a morning by the pool in the second Iguazú hotel and then make an easy start. We found the HA ...

Geek Thoughts: February 2013

http://brunogirin.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Random thoughts and ideas from a French geek in London. Tuesday, 12 February 2013. Green Deal or No Deal? As detailed in a blog post last year. My home energy use and a thermal imaging survey I had done show very clearly that my house is in need of serious energy efficiency work. I was intending to do this last year but working out how to finance the work proved to be a bit of a problem as I had depleted my savings to minimise the size of the mortgage. So when the Green Deal. Find a Green Deal Provider,.

Would be so much slicker if this could be handled at the brower level. That got me thinking and, as I like to work out how things work, I started to ask Andy how he would see this being implemented. Random thoughts and ideas from a French geek in London. Saturday, 28 May 2011. Crash of the Day. Received today from a colleague:. Please note that if somebody opens Build log excel in Microsoft excel 2007 and updates it while a filter put on any column, the file crashes. So please avoid updating the build log in Microsoft excel 2007. So we're talking about a fairy simple file created in Excel 2003 that crashes Excel 2007 if you try to update it while a filter is set on any column. Sigh. Crash of the Day.

Geek Thoughts: Yodel redefines the word Safe while John Lewis redefines Eco-Friendly

Random thoughts and ideas from a French geek in London. Friday, 13 January 2012. Yodel redefines the word Safe while John Lewis redefines Eco-Friendly. Last week-end I visited the John Lewis web site and bought a couple of Buiani folding chairs. You will note how they checked the. Wood from well-managed forests.
