The Dossey (or Dorsey) name probably comes from the English/Irish D/Arcy, meaning one who came from the Norman region of Arci. [4]. Mary Ann Moates Barnes. They Were Young Once. Southern Cross of Honor. Ancestors I Have Loved. Meet the Family of John Bolton Moates and Elizabeth Butler Dossey. As we strolled along she would point and say “That’s Grandma Smoker’s grave.” She never seemed to notice only rocks marked her grave. Mary Ann Moates Barnes. They Were Young Once. Southern Cross of Honor. Ancestors I Have Loved. Meet the Family of John Bolton Moates and Elizabeth Butler Dossey. They Were Young Once. I do not have the date John Bolton and Elizabeth Dossey Moates married but it’s possible it was sometime in 1868. Their first child, Otto, was born in 1869. If this is correct Elizabeth Dossey would have been 20 and John Bolton 21. Hall of Fame Dosseys. Mary Ann Moates Barnes. Mary Elizabeth Barnes Scott.
