Some Programmer Guy

Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Properties are a great feature of C# that made it possible to get away with setter and getter methods. The one drawback of properties in .NET 2.0 is that every property, no matter how trivial needed some kind of a private variable declaration. In a class with private members that are exposed via properties a code like this was a norm:. Public string FirstName {get; set; } public string LastName {get; set; }. Posted by Some Programmer Guy. Var text = $("input[id$='firstName']");.

Some Programmer Guy: [C#] ?? Operator

http://someprogrammerguy.blogspot.com/2009/03/c-operator.html

Friday, March 20, 2009. I use Nullable Types in C# quite often, and with that my code was full of short snippets like this. Int someInt = myNullableInt.HasValue? MyNullableInt.Value : 0;. Or something similar. That seemed like a huge overkill for the purpose it's supposed to serve and today I discovered why: the? Operator is designed for just that purpose - to give a nullable variable some default value in case it is null. The above snippet can be rewritten as. Int someInt = myNullableInt?

Friday, March 20, 2009. Just to get it out of the way - this is about some little things I find as I code all day.  I won't discriminate against any language, but expect PHP and ASP.NET (C#) to be two major topics. Some progress of a pilgrim...

Some progress of a pilgrim. Oh it's that tired old idea that life is a journey, but surely the old idea is still being spouted because it's true? This blog notes where I've been, what the signposts say and who I meet on the road, behind the bushes and hanging on with my fingertips at a cliff edge. Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Potholes. Glasgow is riddle with them. I feel like I am on an adventure off-road driving challenge just getting to work, less than a mile away. Sunday, January 2, 2011. This year wa...
