I now mostly make these as a three-piece model, with a joint in the centre of the aluminium body. The one in the photos here has a two-piece body. The delrin head has the traditional cork stopper. This is an acetal polymer valued in engineering for it's rigidity and toughness and its resistance to impacts. It is possible to make an excellent flute from delrin. The flutes are given a matte finish which helps to give the surface more grip for the player. My flute models which don't have metal tuning slides have the traditional cork stopper as reflector.

These are voiced and tuned just the same as the models I make with the traditional metal slide (see Models). The integral delrin slide and the 3-piece construction reduces the cost of these flutes. A three-piece delrin Pratten style with a long integral foot and with 4 nickel-plated brass rings. The nickel is a heavy plate. Endcap and white delrin stopper.
