Stoke Amber by the McCashin Family (NZ, 4.5%) | Something Brewing

https://somethingbrewing.wordpress.com/2012/01/22/stoke-amber-by-the-mccashin-family-nz-4-5

The simple joys of hops, malt and barley. Stoke Amber by the McCashin Family (NZ, 4.5%). As I was browsing the beer shelves at the bottle shop, I had two criteria for what was to be my first 6-pack purchase of 2012:. It had to have something more than pale fizziness going for it. It had to be something, I hadn’t tried before. I finally chose something I wasn’t even aware of, a craft beer from Nelson, New Zealand. It was a good choice. I think we might have a new favourite! Stone & Wood – has handcrafted beer gone too far? | Something Brewing

https://somethingbrewing.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/stone-wood-has-handcrafted-beer-gone-too-far

The simple joys of hops, malt and barley. Stone and Wood – has handcrafted beer gone too far? One one hand you have Fourex Gold. Domestic, a mid strength bitter, relatively inexpensive, and can last in the fridge untouched for an inordinate amount of time. On the other hand, located to the extreme left is Stone and Wood draught ale. Sounds like the perfect beer for the new age connoisseur, right? Well….not for this beer buff. Personally I think this beer is best suited as part of a hors d’oeuvres n...

Lord Nelson’s Old Admiral (Australia, NSW) 6.1% | Something Brewing

https://somethingbrewing.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/lord-nelsons-old-admiral-australia-nsw-6-1-2

The simple joys of hops, malt and barley. Lord Nelson’s Old Admiral (Australia, NSW) 6.1%. Now this is more like it…. From the Lord Nelson Brewery in Sydney, Old Admiral wears its boutique credentials on its sleeve, or rather on its label. “100% Natural Ale” it boasts, followed by “Australian Craft Brewed”. Any further stretch for authenticity and it would be sold in wooden cask bottles. It’s a fine tasting, naturally made beer from a non-multinational brewery. What’s not to like? Halida (Vietnam) 4.5% | Something Brewing

https://somethingbrewing.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/halida-vietnam-4-5

The simple joys of hops, malt and barley. Halida (Vietnam) 4.5%. Well, my hopes weren’t high. I mean, Vietnam is just not a country one associates with great beer. The reason I picked this up was because a good friend of mine is currently living in ‘Nam and I wanted to get an idea of what he was enjoying beer-wise. The poor bastard. Wellthat is a nice picture of an elephant. Whilst lying sweating on a bed, staring at a ceiling fan and slowly descending into madness. Stone and Wood – has handcrafted...

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you. Gnostic, Gospel of Thomas. Monday, March 08, 2010. CBC Radio: Vinyl Cafe and Age of Persuasion. Caught my attention initially, along with Ideas. I listened to some episodes on some of my long drives and found them interesting, but not really gripping. Then I discovered Vinyl Cafe with Stuart McLean. And Age of Persuasion with Terry O'Reilly.

No king but Christ! The American Conservative on Distributism. The magazine The American Conservative. Has published a nice article on distributism called Distributism is the Future. The author sums up one of the aspects of distributism I’m drawn to, which is the conservative nature of the teaching. Distributism favors communities and families over the good of the multinational corporation. I’ll let the author sum it up:. Various Responses to Joe Carter’s TGC article on Abortion – Updated. I’ll jus...

something brieh | cheesiness & spices of life

Cheesiness and spices of life. December 21, 2012. Suddenly, as He was speaking, everything started to move. The Earth shook and split open, and I saw a very dark hole below. We were standing on a sort of rock with angels surrounding us. I said, “Lord, I don’t want to go to that place! I was so hot, I felt my skin burning. I asked, “Lord, what is this? I don’t want to go to this place! Time was going by, and my daughter was still lying there. “Lord, what is happening? 8221; “Lord, please take me out...
