Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Chilly and raw November in Vienna was significantly brightened by my brother's visit. We'd made the travel arrangements for him to come months before he arrived, so I had a lot of time to think about what we might do and what we might show him. It seems strange to say this because Vienna is really a wonderful city, but there was part of me that felt apologetic that he would only. Wouldn't he miss the delights of Rome? Oh there are so many wonderful things to see. To warm us up.

The new thing: I got a henna tattoo and discovered my inner extrovert. I went old school with a traditional flower pattern, which the artist, Neha, drew on my hand and bedazzled with blue crystals. I felt exotic. I was ready to ride an elephant! I’d say in mock surprise when the clerk (finally) noticed my bejeweled skin. I wonder if getting a permanent tattoo would hurt.
