My adventures in the natural world. Birding Resources–Sample Page. June in the Daks, part 2. Birding the Rio Grande Valley–Finally! The Wonders of Santa Cruz Island. October 8, 2013. But, this one Life Bird seemed small potatoes compared to a pelagic trip, an all-day birding trip at sea, promising oodles of sea birds we would never see on land. Fate being what it is, the pelagic trip out of Santa Barbara was cancelled due to lack of participation (hey, Santa Barbara birders! Impassively watched too, comf...

KatDoc's World: October 2009
http://katdocsworld.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Nature, pottery, pets, and me. Thursday, October 29, 2009. I need a bug expert. And, I do mean "bug," as in "true bug" rather than "generic insect." I've got it narrowed down that far, based on the piercing-sucking mouth parts, the half-leathery wings folded in an "X" on the back and the long antenna. Near as I can come, using my handy-dandy Kenn Kaufman insect guide, is variety of Leaf-footed Bugs, genus Acanthocephala. I can't get any closer, either common name or species. Anybody want to chime in here?

Back to Blog Home. On Falconry and Fantasy. This week I head into the studio to record the audiobook version of. Jim Butcher (writer of the wonderful Harry Dresden series) wrote a fabulous post on his Live Journal. About how writers kill their own dreams. And the subtext is that we somehow completely miss that we are living the dream. My God. How could I have missed that I leveled up? When people ask me, “Really, you have a book published? A Game of You. In an issue that included a piece by Ray Bradbury.

Life at the Zoo: 5 Months
http://erinandylifeatthezoo.blogspot.com/2012/06/5-months.html
Friday, June 22, 2012. Penny is 5 months old already! And I'm so late writing this she will be 6 months soon. There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day anymore. Between working and taking care of this little one and all our furry friends, life is certainly hectic. We spend a week on Cape Cod earlier in the month. It was a bit cold, but we had a great time. My parents came and Andy's dad so we had lots of baby care help, which was great! It has taken me all day to write this post! Life at the Zoo.

Life at the Zoo: 6 months
http://erinandylifeatthezoo.blogspot.com/2012/07/6-months.html
Monday, July 16, 2012. Holy cow. This kid is 6 months old already! Half a year has passes since she was born. Andy and I joke all the time that having a baby is like the ultimate science experiment. All the amazing changes she has gone through have been fascinating to watch. She can sit up on her own now, eats all kinds of mushy food, laughs constantly, recognizes us in a crowd of people, and that smile! It kills me daily. It melts my heart and makes my soul soar at the same time. Life at the Zoo.

Life at the Zoo: Coming up on a year...
http://erinandylifeatthezoo.blogspot.com/2012/12/coming-up-on-year.html
Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Coming up on a year. Excuse me while I wipe the dust off this blog! It's been a crazy, busy, fun, exhausting, exciting, chaotic, lovely, wonderful few months. I swear this kid grows every day. She is crawling all over the place, pulling herself up on everything, trying to walk, climb and destroy every inch of our house! The animals are not so sure about this new, mobile baby. She follows them around, tries to play with them, steal their toys, and pull their tails! Lots of ra...
