Travel, Natural History, and Opinion. On May 12, 2015 by Tom Dollar. Belle Isle Park, Detroit, Michigan. A large flock of migrating cedar waxwings thirty five at quick count had swooped in to drink from the pond and rest in nearby pine trees before heading on north. Delighted, I watched these black-masked, crested birds flash en masse from the pines to the pond, and then back to tumble and preen in the pines until, after an hour, I returned, reluctantly, to my office. Natural to whom or to what? Brooklyn...

The stiletto-beaked roadrunner, nemesis of snakes and lizards? The banner-tailed kangaroo rat, the mouse that never gets thirsty? Or the white-winged dove, a bird so fond of heat that it escapes south from the Arizona desert when temperatures begin to drop at the first hint of fall in early September? Thursday, February 7, 2008. What a cute kid! I like to think about the Sound Of Heaven. I like to think it can be heard when I sing and play my songs. I wonder if the little boy in the picture could hear the Sound in my music? Sometimes, when I'm really still, I can hear him singing a celestial hymn. It sounds like Heaven. And he still ends it with "amen". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
