Cruising the caribbean single-handed on a shoestring. Wednesday, 8 April 2015. A Rse cleaning van (Super Mario’s company)…Cheeky. I’m tempted to set up a rival company – British Ultra Marine cleaning. I picked up a cheap DC to AC power inverter, new coffee maker and lots of other bits and pieces for Sonic Boom, new shorts, flip flops and sunglasses for me. I’m very ready to leave San Remo; excited to go to Amsterdam to catch my KLM flight back to Curacao in a couple of weeks. Posted by sonic boom.

Cruising the caribbean single-handed on a shoestring. Friday, 8 August 2014. I managed to get work teaching English at a school in San Fernando and Tunapuna. It’s a couple of classes teaching SAT exam essay writing to US university hopefuls. I’m doing lots of traveling around Trinidad, in cars, maxi taxis, catamaran ferries, and air-conditioned buses. It’s a busy polluted stinky world – I'm missing white sandy beaches. It was good to get into the other kind of jungle. Nesting in the trees.

My favorite is ‘doubles’ – two eggy pancakes with chana masala (chick pea curry), mango chutney and hot sauce. Cruising the caribbean single-handed on a shoestring. Friday, 26 September 2014. 34 Ships that pass in the Night. I’ve been in Trinidad for three months already. I just renewed my visa. I guess now I’m part of the hard-core who are staying with their boats over the hurricane season – mainly small, old yachts, tied to beat-up dinghies with tiny outboards. Just like mine. I checked out of Montego Bay on Tuesday and sailed to Negril with Lanny and Ginger on S/Y Swiftsure, who are also going to the Cayman Islands. We anchored in Bloody Bay and had dinner. S/Y Swiftsure anchored in Bloody Bay. Long Bay, Negril. I borrowed a copy of John Lecher’s book Self-Steering for Sailing Craft. From Jack and prepared everything I need for sheet to tiller self-steering.
