Literary Debauchery: A sort of blog. Mangling the English language since 1985. Small Town Ghosts teaser. On the writing front, I’ve been working, albeit slowly. Besides actual writing and editing, there’s been a lot of work on my successor as vice-president for the South Jersey Writers’ group. I’ve read several good books this year, but again it’s been slow going and I haven’t read as much as I would have liked. Currently, reading Joshua and the Lightning Road. Follow Blog via Email. Na-nono-Wrimo? Or, AKA…December | Literary Debauchery: A sort of blog

Literary Debauchery: A sort of blog. Mangling the English language since 1985. Small Town Ghosts teaser. Or, AKA…December. It’s December. National No Novel Writing. Month for me. Yes I am coming down off the high from my Nanowrimo win. A Stitch in Time clocked in at 50,001 words. Although not finished, I’m well on my way to completing it. But you will not see me writing 50,000 words in December. As Lisen Minetti, pointed out in her blog post, What About December? Whew* quite a list. No one could ever...

Relentless Writers: Books Vs. Movies
http://relentlesswriters.blogspot.com/2015/07/books-vs-movies.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Books Vs. Movies. A couple weeks ago a debate sprung up between me and a few of my friends. Which is better, books or movies? In the defense of books I must say that I enjoy writing a fight scene, I like the flow of my words on the page, like a dance of back and forth blows. Is it harder to do than actually acting it out? Of course, but in the end the sequence feels more satisfying. So, do movies do books justice? Do you always read the book first? Tell me in the comments below!

Relentless Writers: How to Sell Your Book without Selling Your Soul
http://relentlesswriters.blogspot.com/2015/08/how-to-sell-your-book-without-selling.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. How to Sell Your Book without Selling Your Soul. Right away I need to tell you something personal. Not the TMI-kind-of-personal, but personal in the sense that this won’t be the typical “how-to” blog post about book marketing. Why? Because sales and marketing turns me off completely and causes my skin to itch. Good advice, right? Yes, of course. But personally, I can’t do it that way. Not without selling my soul in the process. Let’s say you write about zombie insects. ...If you ...

Relentless Writers: April 2015

Thursday, April 30, 2015. M/M Romance: The Next Big Thing? Last Tuesday, the US Supreme Court heard arguments on a case that could allow same-sex marriages in all 50 States. I truly hope common sense prevails and that soon every American will have the right to marry, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. And ten years ago, we weren't even having this conversation. By Heidi Cullinan, Bonds of Denial. By Lynda Aicher, and The Bells of Times Square. A F/M/M story by Roni Loren. Yeah, I don't actually ...

Relentless Writers: May 2015

Friday, May 29, 2015. Keep On Keeping On, or: Top Ten Reasons to Continue Writing. I've been struggling lately, so I'm going to talk about it. I'm working on the third book in a historical romance series. The first book, Gambling on the Outlaw. Will be released June 23, 2015 through Entangled Publishing. It should be available for preorder soon. I've had six months to write this book, as well. The deadline is August 31. This means I've already piddled away three of my six months. 2 Because my brain won't...

Monday, August 31, 2015. NEVER INTERRUPT A WRITER: The Secrets of Survival for a Writer's Significant Other. by Janice M. Wilson. THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO KILL A PESTERING FLY WHEN I'M WRITING! Try to get my food, yeah - you get swatted away quick. But interrupt my train of thought? You’re dead. Finally, I got him and he met his maker. No more interruptions, I thought. The sunlight beamed through the tree branches, a fish jumped in the water, and the world was at peace again. HONEY, ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?

Here are a few pictures from the annual South Jersey Writers’ group annual party. Held this year at South Jersey local cafe, The Treehouse. One of our favorite places to hangout, write, and drink coffee, we definitely had a lot of fun mingling and recognizing the great writers we have in the group. Relentless Writers: To Self-Pub or not to Self-Pub: The Burning Question
http://relentlesswriters.blogspot.com/2015/08/to-self-pub-or-not-to-self-pub-burning.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. To Self-Pub or not to Self-Pub: The Burning Question. Self publishing- Indie publishing- is all the rage these days, and for good reason. In its fledgling days, self-publishing amounted to vanity publishing. It consisted primarily of people who had written a book, mostly for themselves, and wanted to see it "published" so they could give copies to their friends and family. For the most part, they weren't serious authors whose goal was a career in writing novels. Finally, you ke...
