Peppermint Patcher: Farewell
http://peppermintpatch.blogspot.com/2007/05/farewell.html
Friday, May 25, 2007. One of the first things that I bought with my own hard earned cash was a sewing machine. A little Janome that cost me around $350 in 1984. At the time I was at uni and my car was worth less. I clothed myself for many a year with that machine. Five years later I was married and living in Brisbane while my Pete was at uni. I was teaching, so I had an income. We had no debt and no children. I went to the Brisbane Ekka. Faithful machine, we have stitched many, many kilometres together.

It's a Porter's Life!: It's a Porter's Life on Holidays
http://itsaporterslife.blogspot.com/2008/07/its-porters-life-on-holidays.html
It's a Porter's Life! Thursday, July 17, 2008. It's a Porter's Life on Holidays. I've been a slack blogger but for holidays it's been busy! Weekend 1 was spent relaxing at Goolwa, until Charlotte broke a tooth and ended up in hospital on Wednesday having a general anaesthetic (as I once again praise the private health system, I got my money's worth again! Weekend 2 saw Charlotte all better and we attended our first protest rally (yes I really did! I even got to have lunch with mum today in town (kid free!

Melinda: March 2012
http://melindacannady.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 18, 2012. My Son Ate a Pancake. You are probably asking yourself why on earth the fact that my son ate a pancake merits an entire blog post. Kids are by nature picky eaters, of course. Did you know there is a biological reason behind that fact? Of JT eating apple slices dipped in caramel sauce. The current extent of his food choices includes: cheese, crackers, whole grain bread, yogurt, V-8 fusion, ketchup, mustard, pizza, fish sticks, chicken, cookies, and plain chocolate. That is ...I hav...

Melinda: Happily Ever After?
http://melindacannady.blogspot.com/2013/08/happily-ever-after.html
Sunday, August 4, 2013. Rob's parents and mine celebrate fifty years of marriage this summer. 18,262.5 days (yes, I did include leap days in that calculation.) of wedded bliss? Am I being a grump, a pessimist, a negative Nellie? Am I about to break the news that after all these years, it's over? No Of course not. I'm just looking at Happily Ever After from the other side of the wedding day. When the "for better or worse and in sickness and health" really happen. What you won't find in those albums are sn...

Saturday, May 12, 2012. Thursday I left home at 8 am and didn't return until 8 pm Never have I been so happy that the following day was the every other week cleaning lady visit! To make the weekend all the sweeter, she made AN ENTIRE MEAL and brought it over on Saturday. I'm thinking about asking her to adopt me. Fresh cut and color? A little slice of happy for me. Melinda: Let Them Eat Cake
http://melindacannady.blogspot.com/2013/01/let-them-eat-cake.html
Friday, January 4, 2013. Let Them Eat Cake. Another candle on that cake today. Despite the fact that Rob is telling the kids I'm 40, though I only LOOK 38, I do indeed have two more years until the big four oh. Someone in this household WILL be 40 in 2013, but not for another six weeks. Some of the best thoughts or ideas happen when I first wake up, before life crowds in and the noise becomes too loud. I hope you had a lovely day. January 4, 2013 at 3:33 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 39 years&#...

Melinda: September 2012
http://melindacannady.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 12, 2012. My brother Sidney got married in July. A beautiful day filled with beautiful people sharing love and laughter and commitment. But when I look at the photo, the bittersweetness overwhelms. How much more precious are these days when we are together? How I wish there were six of us in the photos, instead of five. I don't talk about him often enough. I saw him briefly yesterday and I was overwhelmed by how much I love this man. Too cool for school. A few years ago I was driving...

Melinda: April 2012
http://melindacannady.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Contemporary research shows that happy people are more altruistic, more productive, more helpful, more likeable, more creative, more resilient, more interested in others, friendlier, and healthier. Happy people make better friends, colleagues, and citizens." - Gretchen Rubin in The Happiness Project. Let me preface this post by saying that I am not unhappy. Should I be grateful for the life I have? You better believe it! Not only could I do with it, I crave. The blinds need to ...
