Switzerite: June 2015
http://switzerite.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. I have been building up my Amazon wish list for next school year and was racking my brain to remember the title of the book my neighboring teacher read her class for Ancient Civilizations. She had wanted Ancient Phoenicia. and it's harder to find a story that takes place in Phoenicia than it would be to search for Ancient Egypt, Greece, or Rome. But she found one and it was excellent! Finally found a reference to it in this blog post from a homeschooler. Saturday, June 27, 2015.

Switzerite: February 2015
http://switzerite.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 20, 2015. Potluck Collage Art Party. Last night we went to a fun Family Art Night event. They had four stations set up. One was a low table covered with white paper and ornate empty picture frames drawn on. Young children could take markers and draw portraits of their families. One was a table of potatoes, cutting boards and knives, paintbrushes, acrylic paints, inks, and bristol board. One station was devoted to the art style of Amedeo Modigliani. I was really wishing we had buttons on ...

Switzerite: Monarchs on the Nature Table
http://switzerite.blogspot.com/2015/08/monarchs-on-nature-table.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Monarchs on the Nature Table. We've lived in this house for a year and finally set up a Nature Table. For some reason, I think of this more as an early childhood activity, and now that we have Zac I feel like we should have a nature table. even though he's only 2 1/2 months old and his older sisters will get a lot more out of it than he possibly could! And Natalie will be making Oven BBQ Pork Steaks. Any recipe that calls for apples is ok with me, as we still have a large, LARGE...

Switzerite: Oven Roasted Corn on the Cob
http://switzerite.blogspot.com/2015/08/oven-roasted-corn-on-cob.html
Monday, August 3, 2015. Oven Roasted Corn on the Cob. I needed a bag of frozen corn for an Edamame, Chickpea and Corn Salad recipe so I wrote "corn" in the Freezer section of the grocery list (lower left side) but my darling husband misunderstood and brought me 12 lovely ears of fresh corn. I am blessed. That he does all the shopping for me but sometimes mistakes happen. So, thank you dear and, now, what to do with all that corn. We will eat 6 and I will use the other 6 in my recipe. Did I mention this?

Monday, August 31, 2015. Supplemental Historical Fiction in Chronological Order. In preparation for the Renaissance I had my daughter read The Smile. By Donna Jo Napoli. She didn't care for it, as her book review attests. She says it was "too romancy" and she didn't learn anything about the Renaissance. Tomorrow we will try to get The Second Mrs. Gioconda. By EL Konigsburg instead. Here is my current chart:. Alessandra Giliani, 14th century. The Bahamian Island of Guanahani (San Salvador). Lady Jane Grey...

Switzerite: January 2014
http://switzerite.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 26, 2014. Today we had my youngest daughter's ninth birthday party at Annmarie Garden. It was a great time, complete with fairy and gnome house making (and a dragon's lair), sandwiches and banana splits, and an extra bonus few art sessions! My hands-down favorite was Sharron Parker. An absolutely incredible fiber artist from Wake Forest, NC. Her speciality is handmade felt. She has developed a technique for making wet felted geodes, which I will share with you here! A pair of scissors.
