Free Patterns from Sophie Junction. Quilt Block Patterns, Project Tutorials and Quilting Tips. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. This simple 6 inch by 9 inch (finished size) block was influenced by the proportions of the golden rectangle. It showcases the fabrics used and/or the quilting design. It's quick and easy construction makes it a good choice for a last minute gift or a quilt-in-a-day project. For each block,. Cut 1 rectangle - 4.5 x 6.5 inches. Cut 2 rectangles - 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Free Patterns from Sophie Junction. Quilt Block Patterns, Project Tutorials and Quilting Tips. Saturday, July 31, 2010. You may know this as block as a Liberated. Rose, a Log Cabin. Rose or just a Wonky. Rose any and all those adjectives apply. Here are my notes for how I construct this free-pieced block. As you make the block, you'll need to play wi...

The irregular, curved shapes in this block have an organic feeling and abstracted, natural look. I see reeds, but you might see green shoots or leaves of grass. It's a pretty simple block that offers the opportunity to work with curves, make bias edges work for you and freely cutting and piecing it all together. Insert a bias strip. First sew it to the ...

http://blocksnswaps.blogspot.com/2010/05/liberated-basket-block.html

Free Patterns from Sophie Junction. Quilt Block Patterns, Project Tutorials and Quilting Tips. Monday, May 31, 2010. My approach for making this liberated basket block once again starts with a large rectangle of background fabric into which you "draw" the design of the block with your rotary cutter. The finished size of my example block is 6 1/2 inch wide by 8 1/2 inches tall (to finish at 6 x 8). Remove the basket shape and reassemble your background pieces, but don't throw it away–we'll come back...

Free Patterns from Sophie Junction. Quilt Block Patterns, Project Tutorials and Quilting Tips. Friday, July 01, 2011. This liberated variation of the classic 16-patch block is easy to cut and sew . . . as long as you take care to keep things organized. The blocks are made two-at-a time, beginning with 2 large squares. The finished size of your liberated checkerboard block will be 2-to-2 1/2 inches smaller than the these squares. Create the checkboard by swaping top and bottom fabrics of every other piece.

The Right to Mourn. Sophie's work deals mainly with the human psyche. Her subjects follow her own search and growth processes. She explores layers of feelings through layers of stone or layers of paint. Using local Israeli stones, Italian, Turkish, and Portuguese marble, she seeks to unearth lost parts of the soul in order to regain its authenticity.
