Es ist offensichtlich Frankfurt am Main, wo der sensationelle Bilderfund nach mehr als 100 Jahren unter Verschluß wieder auftauchte. Die erste Anlaufstelle in Ägypten dürfte der Hafen von Alexandria gewesen sein. Es ist anzunehmen, daß es von dort aus per Nilschiff stromaufwärts ging. Also etwa 1.000 Kilometer, bevor der Rückweg auf dem selben Wege angetreten wurde.

Es ist ein reales Dokoment echter Menschen, die das Mühsal vor über 100 Jahren auf sich nahmen. Es sind also keine zusammengekauften Fotos oder Spenden an Universitäten und Museen, sondern lebendige Geschichte. Ein ähnliches Archiv mit authentischem Zusammenhang ist uns nicht bekannt.

Die ersten funktionsfähigen Kleingeräte waren zwar schon zwei Jahrzehnte früher konstruiert worden, doch die Fotos entwickeln zu lassen war ein langwieriges und teures Abenteuer. So kommt es, daß Reisende aus dem Jahre 1910 Bilder mitbringen konnten, die bereits bis zu einem halben Jahrhundert früher aufgenommen worden waren.
