What an experience - the shock of the salt water, the challenge of keeping up with the power and rhythm of the waves, the danger of the undertow as I was reminded by my mom every 5 minutes, and the complete peace with my surroundings. I even saw a stingray - It was awesome! Too often, instead of going out. This is how the kingdom will be built and was modeled by Jesus!

the table: wondering about discipleship | missio journey
https://missioproject.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/the-table-wondering-about-discipleship
The table: wondering about discipleship. Posted by gibby espinoza. January 23, 2013. Do you ever wonder? Do you ever wonder? About the deeper aspects of life. About beauty, meaning, and relationships? About food, art, and what your grandchildren will call you? About changing the batteries in your smoke alarms, how to end violence, and the giver of your eulogy? About paper, plastic, or your own reusable grocery bags? About Jesus, life, and faith? About the Bible, sin, and hope? Do you ever wonder? Relieve...

The table: welcome to your new addiction. Posted by gibby espinoza. January 30, 2013. A few words on Fuzzy’s Tacos and restoration. What an over used and abused word, right? Addiction. Can you be addicted to food? I guess some could be. But, this is not really about tacos, fish tacos nor my love of cilantro. Really, it’s about what happens when you’re eating with someone, whether at a table, by campfire, or standing next to a taco cart. It’s no great mystery, is it? I found hope, joy, and friendship at &...

The table: i quit. Posted by gibby espinoza. January 25, 2013. By Fred Liggin IV. What if on that day he decided to call it quits? I wouldn’t blame him. What if on that day he let his inability to change his own situation get the best of him? At least he could say he tried. What if on that day he allowed his previous experience with all those other selfish people turn him into a cynic, and throw up his hands in frustration? After all, enough is enough. What if on that day he decided not to show up? 8212;...

The table: love a pharisee. Posted by gibby espinoza. February 5, 2013. By James Michael Jones. Jesus was not afraid of rebuking this self-righteous, dead group of men (Matthew 23). But, Jesus did not live on a soapbox of bitterness against them. For all the pain and hurt the Pharisees did to people seeking Jesus, He still loved them. It was this love that allowed Jesus to reach out to Saul the Pharisee on his way to Damascus to hurt more Christians. How far do we go to prevent that danger? How much can ...

The table: for the people. Posted by gibby espinoza. February 25, 2013. My mind was buzzing with the implications of a high pulpit and a fixed table, but I controlled myself and asked this one question:. Why is the pulpit so high and the table at the level of the congregation? He replied, “Because the sacrament of the Lord’s supper is for the people. Miguel and I met through Facebook. Souls of Wit | "To have ruined one's self over poetry is an honour."
To have ruined one's self over poetry is an honour. August 5, 2015. As Glee has beautifully put it, it begins with goodbye. However, we are not at the point of final goodbyes yet. We are at the point of anxious preparation, of endless to-do lists on paper and in our minds. We are at “I’m pretty sure I have done everything I can but it still feels like I have forgotten something. Important”. There is one thing that specifically gets on my nerves: packing. It Begins with Goodbye. August 2, 2015. However, n...

February 23, 2015. February 23, 2015. My monthly poetry challenge is over, but I am still trying to write poetry when the muse strikes. I will be resuming my course soon, and that is likely to lead to a hiatus here. For now – here is a shadorma inspired in part by listening to a Kate Grenville novel during my morning beach run, and my continued indignation and shame at Australia’s treatment of asylum seekers. Children’s dreams hanging like ghosts. On the moonlit wires. February 1, 2015. January 29, 2015.

Don’t fuck yourself out of your joy. July 8, 2014. My friend Andrea’s 3 year old daughter, Mina, threw a tantrum one evening just before dinner. She was begging and screaming for a fruit roll. Although Andrea gives Mina the all fruit leathers, dinner was almost ready, and Andrea wanted her daughter’s appetite intact for the meal. She stood firm. Now, however, the expression has leapt and bounded into my consciousness to mean something far greater. It has become my slogan. My tag-line. Pamela ...We fuck o...
