https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/06/21/wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-the-eva-wiggle-dress
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle… The Eva Wiggle Dress! This is the Eliza M Eva “Wiggle” Dress. The pattern came free with issue 6 of Love Sewing magazine last year. Of course the fabric is blue and white to tie in with my non-intentional blue and white themed month! There was my blue and white stiped dress. Blue and white spotty skirt. And now this. I have already made next week’s ‘One Pattern Two Takes’ garments and one is blue and white! Anyway, back to the dress.

A quick skirt and a quick post! | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/07/30/a-quick-skirt-and-a-quick-post
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. A quick skirt and a quick post! I’ll start by apologising for the dreadful photos in this very quick post! It’s the summer holidays and I don’t have a lot of spare time! This is my greatest dressmaking achievement of late – and it’s not even great. It’s the Skater Skirt from issue 12 of Love Sewing magazine. FYI in the photo below, the mark on my top is from the camera! I’m glad I didn’t use an expensive jersey with a pretty print! Well that’s all I ha...

A Coordinating Outfit – Meringue & Plantain | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/a-coordinating-outfit-meringue-plantain
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. A Coordinating Outfit – Meringue & Plantain. Hmm, I’m not sure about Meringue and Plantain together in the context of food, but in this case, it works! I’ll fill you in – this week I sewed a two-piece outfit consisting of a skirt (named Meringue) and a top (named Plantain). The inspiration for this achievement was from this week’s challenge at The Monthly Stitch. I didn’t even consider making leggings; just straightaway knew I’d make a skirt. The fabric....

Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Refashion: Men’s Shirt to Toddler Dress. Posted in My Sews. In November I’m running a course called Upcycle: Sustainable Fashion; it’s all about refashioning textiles into something new. So recently I’ve been sewing up some ideas to bring with me. Here’s one! A men’s shirt – which most people have lying around – to a girl’s dress. I began with a lovely lilac shirt – not too masculine! Here’s the finished dress! And everyone apparently loved it! I fell in lov...

Elmer the Elephant Outfit ~ World Book Day 2015 | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/03/10/elmer-the-elephant-outfit-world-book-day-2015
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Elmer the Elephant Outfit World Book Day 2015. This year, World Book Day was so much fun. For the past couple of years my daughter has dressed up in shop-bought costumes – I think she’s been a fairy and Snow White. They weren’t the most imaginative costumes ever, but she was happy enough. On the 1st of January I made some sewing goals. One of them was to actually make a costume for WBD. Image pinched from Google Images! And there are now nearly 30 spin-offs!

https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/jeans-to-girls-dungarees-refashion
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Jeans to Girl’s Dungarees Refashion. I’m sooo excited about this make. I have to say that I’m feeling pretty proud of myself right now. I made my 5 1/2 year old some dungarees; she’s been pestering me for some ever since I made her little sister some last year. If you have been reading my blog for a while you might remember that I made my last dungarees with the help of Made by Toya’s fantastic free pattern. I started with this:. In case you’re curious...

Mens Sweatshirt to Ladies Tank Top *Refashion* | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/mens-sweatshirt-to-ladies-tank-top-refashion
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Mens Sweatshirt to Ladies Tank Top *Refashion*. My boyfriend is one of those people who wears something once or twice and then gets bored of it. This sweatshirt was one of those things. Here’s a quick how-to if you’re interested:. Firstly you need to find a tank top that fits and place it on top of the sweatshirt. Next, with right sides together, sew down the two sides. You may leave the top like this if you like after turning it right side out, of course as...

The Morris Blazer | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/the-morris-blazer
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for.* My Grainline Morris Blazer. Slight exaggeration perhaps but I know one of you is at least! I finished it last week; it took about a week of evenings to make. I didn’t like it at first; I can see the imperfections and the difficulties I has with the sewing machine eating it were clear in my memory. But I have to admit that it’s growing on me. As you can see it is a slouchy fit! I’m really ashamed of that! 1) The...

Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. 2015 Sewing Goals [6 Month Check]. OK, we’re nearly 7 months through the year but I planned on doing this at the end of June and time flew by…. (I wonder how everyone else is getting on? Here are the things I proposed to accomplish this year:. Sew something every week. I have done a bit ...

Joining the Coco Brigade! | After Dark Sewing
https://afterdarksewing.wordpress.com/2015/03/18/joining-the-coco-brigade
Sharing the highs and lows of learning to sew. Joining the Coco Brigade! Hallelujah, I made a Coco! For those of you living under a rock (or, those who don’t sew/blog nowadays…) the Coco is a knit dress pattern. By Tilly Walnes AKA Tilly and the Buttons. I chose a cheap ponte roma from eBay and can’t get over how comfy it is. I have to check that I’m not actually wearing my pyjamas! I finally understand what all the fuss is about these Cocos. It really. A quick and easy sew! NEVER SEW WHEN TIRED! I’...
