Wendy McCoole took on directorship of the Sounds of the Seacoast in October of 2003 — the very group her father, Jim Dodge, founded in 1978 (known then as the Harborbelles). Wendy, now 53 years old, was in her late teens when her father launched the group. She has known many of the members since then and is completely honored to be directing them now. We are a diverse group of women of all ages and walks of life who enjoy great 4-part harmony, lively performances and wonderful friendships. Although we continually strive for musical excellence, you need not be musically trained to belong to our chorus. We provide everyone with music, learning CDs, education and guidance. In keeping with the style of barbershop music (unaccompanied, four-part a cappella harmony), Sounds of the Seacoast enjoys singing and performing a variety of music from standards to gospel songs to more modern pieces. Sounds of the Seacoast also enjoys traveling to and competing at two contests each year - Area in the spring and International in the fall - as a member of Harmony, Inc.
