It concerns that Mosiac on the wall of Castle House on Hamtun Road, that charts the history of Southampton from its early days through to the present day. It made sense to me to start the blog off with such a picture of the Bargate, rather than leaving until much later on. Cranbury Terrace is a wonderful set of buildings, set in a road that I suspect is barely noticed by anyone driving along Onslow Road, or even those who walk down Cranbury Place. In fact, it's an oddity. One side of the road is Cranbury Place, why the other side is Cranbury Terrace. It was around 1849 that 9 Cranbury Terrace was built, as part of a number of houses built at that time. It became "The Berkeley House Hotel". But more about that later.
