Science and Mathematics Instruction for South Dakota Teachers in the 21st Century: Nice Distraction
http://usd2009shortcourseone.blogspot.com/2009/07/nice-distraction.html
Science and Mathematics Instruction for South Dakota Teachers in the 21st Century. Thursday, July 9, 2009. The Beer's law lab is one that I remember doing in college, I have also done a version of it with my students when I have been able to get ahold of some Spec 20's. Typically when the Science on the Move truck has been at our school. It is an excellent lab for discussing concentrations and reaction rates. A simple lab in concept, but very useful in understanding some complex topics. Thursday, July 9th.

Science and Mathematics Instruction for South Dakota Teachers in the 21st Century. Thursday, July 9, 2009. The Crystal Violet lab was also interesting but is probably above the ability of my middle school kids. I still like making the graphs and getting more familiar with using excel and the graphing options. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Learning Mathematics through Science. http://usd2009shortcourseone.blogspot.com/2009/07/thursdays-material.html
Science and Mathematics Instruction for South Dakota Teachers in the 21st Century. Thursday, July 9, 2009. I liked the predator/prey activity. I thought another way this could be adapted was to actually have the students put the utensils into their mouths to pick up the "food". If nothing else, it may provide for a chuckle or two! Since I am on the math end and not the science, we do exponential decay and growth using M&Ms. The kids love the activity and it provides for great graphs. Thursday, July 9th.

http://kimborkowski.blogspot.com/2008/06/friday-6-13-08.html
Friday, June 13, 2008. Today we visited the website www.universeadventure.org. It has information broken down into items that can be easily converted into activities that students can use. I am looking forward to having students work on this as a presentation assignment for other students to learn from. What will make it( the blog) useful to you? To keep it simple and not to busy with stuff. Categorize to make it easy to use. What would not be useful? How to get ppts up and video (Rss feeds).

PANUnderground: Day 4
http://kimborkowski.blogspot.com/2008/06/day-4.html
Thursday, June 12, 2008. Today I really found the Particle Adventure useful. It provided me with alot of information I was seeking. I fell much better and more adaquate than yesterday. I was also able to follow the math problem Peggy put on the board. It was very interesting and easy to fallow once i understood the particles. Time for supper. Thanks for the impressions. Glad it was useful and that you are learning. So I missed your barbeque. June 12, 2008 at 7:24 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
