Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: January 2015
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 13 January 2015. A very enjoyable meal last night with our newly selected Labour candidate for Tonbridge and Malling, Claire Leigh. Once again; as is Labour tradition; a curry in West Malling and organised by our excellent branch chair Doug Vangen. Doug is a real star and can relied upon to organise and manage candidates and has a long political memory of the area. Posted by Tristan Osborne. Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: June 2013
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 27 June 2013. Owning your own home. Last night I sat next to a young activist at the meal with Chris Bryant and we came onto the topic of buying a house and getting on the housing ladder. As a relatively young person (30 year old) I know how getting onto the housing ladder is increasingly difficult; many young people in my generation (born in 1980s) are simply priced out of the market across the South and the problem is worsening because of stagnant wages and a lack of supply. New figures publi...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: December 2014
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 December 2014. Alley Clearance - Time to act. One of the biggest complaints I get on the doorstep as ward councillor and when canvassing in the urban wards in Medway is that of fly-tipping. Specifically the fly-tipping of rubbish in rear alleyways that have long since been gated or unused. It is ironic that to clear a fly tip off Council land the removal operator has to be licensed and trained to handle. Yet Councils are happy for volunteers to clear sites that happen to be on private prop...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: March 2014
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 18 March 2014. Mayoralty cost stings taxpayers. After it was revealed this year that the Conservative Mayor of Medway spent taxpayers money on a snow machine I decided to submit a Freedom of Information request to ascertain the level of spend by the Mayor over the last five years. This is an issue I have been highlighting for years. And time and again ignored by a Tory elite. The above figure also (conveniently) omits the personal allowances of both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. This is a furt...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: September 2014
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, 15 September 2014. South Eastern Franchise Renewal. As a regular commuter from Medway who spends two hours a day using South Eastern trains you could say that I am probably bias when it comes to transport priorities. South Eastern trains are used to the regular criticism by now; after inheriting a mess from the Connex. Today however the government could have acted better. It has been the choice. Posted by Tristan Osborne. Monday, September 15, 2014. Thursday, 11 September 2014. An issue which is ...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: February 2015
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 20 February 2015. Education must be a priority. When I speak to local parents, one of the most pressing concerns I hear is whether their child is getting the best education possible. To do this we have to ensure that our children are receiving the high-quality teaching they deserve in a stable environment. Yesterday, the three Medway constituencies welcomed our Shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt, who met with concerned parents, teachers and young people from across the three seats. Unlike t...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: August 2013
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 29 August 2013. Despite the poor press over the summer holiday about Ed Miliband lacking leadership it is clear that the events of the last 48 hours have proven otherwise. Ed has a strong sense of purpose despite his detractor’s and it isn’t one which he feels necessary to trumpet in an overt manner. It was noticed by many yesterday that many tweets from Cameron concerning National Security and on procedure were not just coming from the Number10. It is why if I were MP I would indicate that my ...

Cllr Tristan Osborne - Musings from Aylesford and Medway: July 2013
http://musingsfrommedway.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 19 July 2013. Keogh Review on Medway Maritime. The NHS was founded sixty-five years ago by a Labour Government that recognised Britain needed a health service that was available to everyone according to their need and regardless of their ability to pay. It is one of Britain’s, and Labour’s, proudest achievements but the NHS has come under criticism lately. Things do go wrong, and poor care needs to be exposed and rooted out. Politicians should be wary but the KM editorial is right; we need a tang...
