2009 Southern States Trip: More on the Stones, then on to Tennessee

http://www.southernstatestrip.blogspot.com/2009/03/this-morning-i-attended-church-at-pilot.html

2009 Southern States Trip. Sunday, March 15, 2009. More on the Stones, then on to Tennessee. This morning I attended church at the Pilot Mountain Ward. As soon as I entered the building, I was greeted by several people welcoming me to church and inquiring about my situation. By the time I had reached my seat in the chapel, I had shook a lot of hands, and received two dinner invitations. These are just good ol. Most of Calvin's children migrated to Utah, and settled in Salem. Because of his health, Ca...

2009 Southern States Trip: Another Day of Lonely Highways in Texas

http://www.southernstatestrip.blogspot.com/2009/03/another-day-of-lonely-highways-in-texas.html

2009 Southern States Trip. Thursday, March 5, 2009. Another Day of Lonely Highways in Texas. Today was more of the same.long, lonely roads across the WIDE state of Texas. I logged about 600 miles today, ending up at a Super 8 Motel in the small town of Navasota, Texas, just about 60 miles west of Houston. Truckers topped the list with 76.4 percent of them waving back. As best as I could tell, they were all males. I got one wave from a farmer in his field plowing and one guy walking down the highway.

2009 Southern States Trip

http://www.southernstatestrip.blogspot.com/2009/03/well-another-early-morning-start-and-i.html

2009 Southern States Trip. Friday, March 6, 2009. Well, another early morning start and I finally got across Texas, crossing into Louisiana. Man, Texas is a huge flat and wide state. I think I am glad to finally be out of Texas. I know that there are some Texas lovers out there, but to me Texas was long, flat and boring. I do have a question regarding all the oil pumps I saw all across Texas; When they are pumping oil, where is the oil stored? Before crossing the Texas border, into Louisiana. Going throu...

Friday, November 12, 2010. Getting ready for a Long Winter's Nap. So winter is here, and it is time to put your motorcycle to bed for the winter, unless you are like me, who has ridden my bike every single month since the day it was purchased. There are some maintenance procedures you should perform to prepare your bike for a long winter's nap. First, you'll want to add a fuel stabilizer. Hook up a battery charger or tender to keep a full charge on the battery all winter long. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Across America: August 2010

http://crosscountryamerica.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 22, 2010. Some of the guys I ride with have been talking about doing an "Iron Butt Ride." This is riding 1,000 miles in 24 hours. There is an association called the "Iron Butt Association" that certifies these types of rides. I did an Iron Butt ride a couple of years ago. To me, it didn't seem that difficult. We started at 4:00 AM in the morning and finished just after midnight that day. Anyway, we may be planning an iron butt ride in September. Monday, August 16, 2010. Well, we finished a...

http://crosscountryamerica.blogspot.com/2010/10/headed-for-lake-powell-next-week.html

Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Headed for Lake Powell Next Week. I going to be heading south to Lake Powell next week with a riding buddy of mine, Mike Jarvis. We are partners on a houseboat and are going to be going down to winterize the boat before the snow flies. We are hoping that the weather will at least be dry for our trip down. The temperatures in Salt Lake are starting to get cold. Last night the temperatures dropped into the 30's. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). States I Have Traveled In.

It was cold until I got down into Texas. I did travel through a few rain storms, but nothing too bad. You can visit my blog of the trip here: Southern States Trip 2009. Salt Lake To New York - 2008.
