Monday, March 23, 2015. After Eight Years A Gay Dad Can Finally Call His Boy, His Son. By Joey Troxel. Still, the seed had been planted in my head. T and I talked about it and it was a scary idea. We really were just self-absorbed with our own well-being and why would we want to compromise that? Here is what I didn’t count on. Our 2-bedroom house with a POOL of all damned things to have with a child around was now so small, it made me become crazed! Of 2015, we went in front of the judge and our boy beca...

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Aspirations, by DADsquared's contributing writer Joey Spinelli. Many years ago, I met a young guy in his 30’s who seemed to be very nice, driven to make something of himself, and had a way with charming the people he would meet. We became friends and have been friends every since. He eventually opened up to me and his story was just amazing. For argument sake, lets call this guy Ryan. The guy that lived next door. The one that every dad wants his daughter to date and marry.

I am happy to say that as I write this articles my husband and I have completed the required classes in the MAPP program, Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting for North Carolina. Tuesday, May 13, 2014. That Damn Gay Kiss! By DADsquared's Henry Amador. This photo of our family was used in a campaign about a year ago which highlighted the the gay kiss. The photo campaign used the phrase "Your parents kiss in public and so do mine.". Seems pretty simple right? Some may wonder why the need? What's the big deal? Well lets fast forward a year to this, soon to be infamous, photo and ask the same questions. Not so simple anymore is it? What topped all the headlines was THE KISS! The exac...

Monday, September 15, 2014. A “Wedding” wedding. by Joey Troxel. Its just a ceremony, it doesn’t really mean anything. I mean, we have been together for 10 years and we have a 7yr old child. We already committed to each other long ago. That’s what I kept telling everyone. Its not a “Wedding” wedding, Its just a formality. This is one of those situations where you just have to put it out of your mind for a while and the answer will just come to you, and it did. On April 3. The entire thing goes off nicely...

Saturday, August 30, 2014. A gay dad shares his thoughts on love, life, food, friends and his new home, Durham NC. By Henry Amador for DADsquared. This morning we awoke like we do most Saturday morning, at the crack of dawn. Our nearly three year old son pops out of bed on drive and ready to go. My husband and I have learned that we need to get up earlier than the crows in order to get at least one cup of coffee down before he shoots out of the gate. In retrospect, my childhood was blissful and safe.
