World of Turbo: In Memory of Le Hedstrom
http://www.worldofturbo.com/2013/03/in-memory-of-le-hedstrom.html
Take time to stop and smell the bacon . . . . . . . . . Sunday, March 03, 2013. In Memory of Le Hedstrom. Please bear with me. My Human asked me if she could make this post. A bit more than 20 years ago I went to my first dog show. Back then I didn't have a dog of my own, but really wanted one. I'd enjoyed watching the Westminster Kennel Club dog show on TV for years, but I never went to see one until that March in Columbia, MO. The dog that caught my eye was this Afghan Hound:. Im sure your mom is very ...
Itchy feet at forty: A good day for bikes
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2007/03/good-day-for-bikes.html
Friday, March 09, 2007. A good day for bikes. Just a short post today as we have been busy with bikes. Or rather the Bicycle Mechanic has been restoring two excellent bikes he has retrieved from the side of Spanish rubbish skips, with hardly anything to do to them. For anyone who doesn't know, all household rubbish is thrown out daily into a large communal street rubbish bin. There are loads of these, invariably between 10 and 20 yards away from your house. Why do we need all these bikes you ask? Well on...

I really am most frustrated with the way Blogger has messed around with my fonts and have no inclination or patience to stay any longer to sort it. My new blog .
Itchy feet at forty: Finca project - the kitchen
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2011/09/finca-project-kitchen.html
Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Finca project - the kitchen. Regular riveted readers may still be aware of the tortuous ongoing project of revamping the finca. With the sitting room and dining room completed earlier - and that was probably the worst half of the house - I said the next room to do was the kitchen. Eventually I found some and they were duly applied. The golden rule in our village is tiles should be a metre high to prevent the damp sucking through the soft stone that our houses are built ...
Itchy feet at forty: Drinking with the gitano
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2007/07/drinking-with-gitano.html
Saturday, July 07, 2007. Drinking with the gitano. As usual Shopping Cycling Partner cleared off for the veg. After a few hours I figured he had either gone to Nerja for a bit of extra exercise or had been waylaid. So I sent him a text. Asking if he had gone to Nerja. A few minutes later he appeared. Previously he had cycled round the corner to come up the street. Hola amigo" someone hollered at him from the bar. Hola" he waved back at whoever-it-was and attempted to cycle on home. Bar Drinking Partner p...
Itchy feet at forty: The villa from hell
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2007/04/villa-from-hell.html
Sunday, April 08, 2007. The villa from hell. I try not to think about it, but when I do, I still shiver. We rented our first - and only - villa in Spain unseen. When I say unseen I mean we rented it from the UK having seen a mediocre pic and received a cursory description. A bit like you do when you rent a villa for one, or two, or maybe even three weeks holiday. So we paid our money up front, ie the first month's rent, and the same again as deposit. It didn't get any better either. He couldn't get a...
Itchy feet at forty: Spanish Civil War
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2011/02/spanish-civil-war.html
Sunday, February 13, 2011. Is a good link to this particular episode in the Civil War, and I have reproduced the last few pars which explain the tortuous exodus of the Republicans from Málaga. The problems of being a historian and encountering different information from different sources). Which brings me neatly onto the subject of novels/autobiographies about the Spanish Civil War. I recommend both the Hemingway and the whole Lee trilogy. I'm still searching for Homage to Catalonia, and another Lee ...
Itchy feet at forty: Mushroom pate
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2011/10/mushroom-pate.html
Tuesday, October 04, 2011. I bought a box of organic chestnut mushrooms and every time I looked at them they spoke to me saying 'mushroom pate'. So I looked up endless recipes on the internet and they all seemed to be basically the same. Chop onions, mushrooms and garlic, and saute gently in olive oil and/or butter. Which I did. Add salt, pepper and herb(s) of choice. I had fresh thyme which I thought would be good. One recipe suggested tarragon which I think would also be nice. Dish it up,. Using half t...
Itchy feet at forty: Is it really ten years?
http://itchyfeetatforty.blogspot.com/2011/11/is-it-really-ten-years.html
Tuesday, November 01, 2011. Is it really ten years? This month marks the tenth anniversary of my departure from the UK. That sounds slightly pretentious but I really can't think of a better way to describe it. So for most of November, I will be looking back over the last ten years, and musing on life, both on here and on Clouds. I may even write some more 'trip' posts on the Landy blog. Posts appeared on Clouds. It is still limited in that you can't mess around with the templates - unless you want to pay!

South of True North
South of True North. Kathleen and Phillip in San Diego, writing to the folks "back home" in Canada. Monday, December 29, 2014. T is a fact of life that the beginning of a new year is the time to make a fresh start. Plans for what's better, what's different, what we'd like to accomplish are all common themes. I've never been a resolution sort of person, but ever since we bought a house in September, everything feels kind of fresh and full of potential. I'm not just talking about material things; learning ...
SOUTH OF TUK
Thursday, 7 June 2012. SOUTH OF TUK #19 (post 2). EXTRACT FROM SOUTH OF TUK #19. ON THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE GROUP. The angels do not benefit from municipal services; they have no need for fire engines, ambulances or transit services. Nor are they burdened by taxation. In fact, government in their realm does not exist. God’s angels become His by choice, do His will by choice, and find that they are wholly themselves, governing themselves wholly. God is not a government. The human individual relates to soci...
