Coke Memorial Methodist Church. Our present building was built in 1882 as a memorial to Dr Thomas Coke, but there has been a Methodist Chapel in the village since 1808. He died in 1814 on a very rough journey to Sri Lanka. The blue plaque showing where he lived can be found in St James Street. Our Building and History.

Coke Memorial Methodist Church. Coke Memorial Methodist Church. We have a membership of 47 and typically have a congregation of 30 - 35. Although we are mostly retired, we think of ourselves as being very active Christians. We try to be a very friendly Church, but have the disadvantage of being an elderly group. We would very much welcome young people and know we would have to change our ways for them. We work with the Parish Church.
