Thursday, September 29, 2011. The Year So Far: Fourth Grade. Fourth graders have been learning about abstraction. We looked at Several Circles by Vasily Kandinsky. We learned that it is an abstract piece of work because it does not depict something we immediately recognize. Students were asked to create their own abstract composition. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Second Grade Pattern Alphabets. In this project, second graders took inspiration from Jasper Johns and created work using familiar characters. If you look closely at this painting, you can see Johns used numbers. In their own work, second grade artists explored creating a painting with the alphabet. The result is really interesting.
