March and April were generally quite hot, with very full days of teaching and other responsibilities. There was enough time and energy (not only physical but mental! One day a week, each student at Cush Christian School is required to bring two pieces of firewood for the Lunch Program. I enjoy seeing the various shapes and sizes of wood that they bring.

Snippets and Snaps of Life in South Sudan. February 24, 2016. New School Building Construction - 10. We're nearing the finish line now and really looking forward to having the new classrooms available. It's mostly painting that still needs to be done, on the outside of the building, and then the clean-up of the site. During the past two weeks, the classrooms have been painted, first with primer (shown in picture) and then the final cream colour, the same as the outside of the building. February 7, 2016.

Snippets and Snaps of Life in South Sudan. October 30, 2015. Seen on My Walk Home Today. I took a leisurely, roundabout walk home from school today, passing by an open space on one side of our village that is often used as a soccer field in the late afternoon. The cell phone tower in the picture below is in our market town, Wanyjok, about a 10-minute walk from where I was standing. Dried grasses of various earthy tones predominate at ground level, with a few remaining patches of green. October 10, 2015.
