Spanglish Scribblings

Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Sorry for such a delayed post. My lap top has gone loco on me and today it is working halfway right. Beto and I have shared with a few people our upcoming plans and now I will let everyone know. So, pray for us as we load up our things once again and head north across the border. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back into the Mississippi way of life. Thursday, July 7, 2011. Monday, July 4, 2011. The past two weekends I have had the privilege to experience two ...

Spanglish Scribblings: April 2011

http://spanglishscribblings.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 25, 2011. I still plan on teaching my American Easter customs to the kids but not emphasizing it as the spot light for Easter. We didn't do the Easter bunny or basket this year; but we did enjoy dying eggs using kool-aid (because we didn't have any food coloring) and they had fun hiding and finding them. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:. On our way to church. Abuelito has been raising bunnies and this one is Isaac's.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011. A Trip Down Memory Lane. The first time I saw Beto was right before we crossed the border to Mexico. His cousin, Mandi Moncivais, had asked Beto to come along with another church group. I didn't pay him much attention then mostly because of his long hair. He didn't pay me any attention either, because he says he doesn't even remember seeing me at that time. Tomorrow we leave for San Antonio (where my mom is meeting us! Spanglish Scribblings: February 2011

http://spanglishscribblings.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 21, 2011. I started putting out my rummage stuff on Friday and had a really good crowd throughout the day. I had such a fun time giving away the clothes and enjoyed seeing people stuff their bags and not having to worry about how much they were spending. I will be there. If I am not there then that means I am sick." After buying almost everything that my friend had just brought over they loaded up their goodies and with big smiles said "we will see you Wednesday.". Spanglish Scribblings: March 2011

http://spanglishscribblings.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Every country has their different beliefs and tales that have been passed down from generation to generation. I find some of the Mexican tales to be a bit strange and possibly silly, but then I started thinking about some of our own Wives' Tales and realized they too are funny. Did you know that someone can give your child "ojo" just by walking down the street? I would love to hear some of the Wives' Tales that you grew up with passed down from your relatives. We are all trying...

The Spanglish Señorita

Sunday, October 18, 2015. Fall Spanish Mentor Texts. You know what they say about teachers being hoarders? Well, as of lately I can completely confess I've become a habitual hoarder of children's literature in Spanish. I feel my new-found obsession is completely validated when I see my students' eyes light up as they see me put a new book in my library. Being that quality translated Spanish books are often hard to find in the level needed, I'm completely okay with hoarding what is available. 4 / 5 Stars.
