It is a picture of a white young couple who look far too young to be the parents of the two little kids who are accompanying them. He dislikes such advertisements, considers them disrespectful towards the country, its people and yet he also knows, hardly anyone would really be bothered by the same. Encourage our BWW Star. Musings of a Chennai gal. And before you know it, so much has happened. The rains are long gone, and the sun is shining so brightly that you beam in happiness when sunlight filters through your mesh windows into the room and casts its yellow glow on the wall. The days are hot, humid and you constantly wipe your face as you try to recollect how the sun crept back into your life. And that’s how my September ends. The tale of the Upanayanam. He asked. Musings of a Chennai gal. Tackling being a feminist. Posted by Vani Viswanathan. Now I’d tell him, what the heck, I’m proud to be a part of it now. Those scenes in Mouna Ragam when Revathi plays up marital symbols: watching it last year, I stifled a cry when the scene came where she pulls out her thaali. To explain that her husband was injured – why would an educated, English-speaking woman need that when she could convey it perfectly well to hospital staff? Getting alarmed when niece/nephew/other childr...

Musings of a Chennai gal. Being home for Navratri. Posted by Vani Viswanathan. When the last time you celebrated Navratri. At home was as a 17-year-old fretting about endless DAV exams and pathetic scores and friends visiting you for birthday, you can be forgiven for forgetting much. Like that you’re not supposed to touch the dolls on the kolu. Display, that you simply cannot keep leftover sundal. To save your life, you don’t know how to quickly grate coconut in time for the neivedhiyam. Set (yes, bought...

At home after nine years also shows you how much you haven’t grown as your parents wish you have. You simply can’t draw a rice kolam. Needless to say, Navratri.

November 2011 | Musings of a Chennai gal
http://chennaigalwrites.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Musings of a Chennai gal. Rockstar was the only Hindi movie I wanted to watch badly. In 2011. And with much enthusiasm, despite reports of a sagging second half, I set out last weekend to watch it in Eros in Mumbai. Before anything else, it was a pleasure to not watch the movie in a multiplex – it’s been at least six years since I did so! The screen was huge. The tale of the Upanayanam. 11-year-old Aditya went up to his mother. When are you going to have the Upanayanam ceremony for me? On beauty – 1.
