Since both of my parents were high school teachers, one thing that I’ve often thought about is what it would be like for a teacher to develop spasmodic dysphonia and not be able to teach. One college professor kept teaching after he lost his voice to SD. Like many others, it was some time until he was properly diagnosed and treated. Talking on the phone was particularly difficult.
