Captive Foraging for Parrots. Let birds be birds. I'm about to go on a shopping spree for new toys for my caiques, so I need some recommendations for good foraging toys. Moderately to extremely challenging (they have mastered the Rings of Fortune. And the Parrot's Treasure. Those aren't dealbreakers, but they're things I look for in toys. Has anyone tried any of these? If so, how would you rate their difficulty? Lucky Bird Treasure Chest. Lucky Bird Can O' Nuts. Any others you can recommend? Can O' Nuts ...

Just out of curiosity how do you feel about corn being the first ingredient in all the major pellet brands? Posted on Aug. 19th, 2011 at 01:51 pm. You know, I forgot about Harrison's, but in any case it does seem odd that the first ingredient is something exceptionally high in fat. Posted on Aug. 19th, 2011 11:18 pm (UTC). Huh, have to admit I'd never looked, I'd just trusted them. I guess that's one reason why it's a good idea to have a veggie mix in addition to pellets. Parrots in the news.

Dec 20th, 2011. What to do when your bird bites. I just came across these great Dos and Don'ts for if your bird bites you. Thought I'd share. :). Posted at 10:08 pm. Apr 5th, 2009. I wised up to that quickly enough, but this past week she's been trying again, specifically pooping on me as a way to get me to pay attention to her. I'm taking it as a sign that I need to spend more time with her, it's probably b/c I've had a busy couple weeks at work. I tell ya, I've got a smart little pooper here. Any ideas...

Aug 20th, 2011. I was just asked about what I give Kappa for a veggie mix, so I thought I would update this old PL post of mine. With what I'm now doing and repost it here. Kappa's pellet mix is many different brands, including Roudybush, Zupreem, Higgins, TOP, and Harrison's. She also gets a small amount of treats, which rotates between almonds in the shell, millet spray, Nutriberries, and dried fruit. I often put some or all of this dry mix into foraging toys, which she enjoys greatly. Aug 19th, 2011.

I've had several "I might know someone who's interested" but nothing firm yet. She's now in a wonderful new home. Yay! The little fuzzbutt got a bath Friday night - so pictures of the drowned rat look (and one blurry picture of her making a break for freedom! And then some pictures of a clean kitten who loves being petted . :). Or Share a thought.
