PTSD and Acute Stress D/O require a traumatic event (life-threatening) and response involving fear, helplessness, and horror (one of the few in which etiology is needed for dx) RULE OUT ADJUSTMENT DISORDER! DSM I and DSM II were based on psychiatric opinion. GABA Abnormality is NOT a major theory of panic disorder!
