Speaking Out Dreams

Friday, 20 June 2014. Don't Waste (Their) Cancer. This week I found out that my mum has cancer. She's not dying. She's not even sick. But she has cancer, and that feels a little scary. I saw the article linked below a while back. I didn't read it at the time but the title stuck with me. Although it is written to people with cancer, I found it incredibly helpful for me too. The article appears on Desiring God and is written by John Piper and David Powlison. Don't Waste Your Cancer. It's been a while.

Speaking Out Dreams: June 2009

http://speakingoutdreams.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 13 June 2009. I'm aware last week's post was a little on the down side. I truly have a much more positive outlook this week.my exams are over, I'm back at work and just generally looking forward to summer and looking forward to moving to Spain! Saturday, 6 June 2009. Looking back on a year. I was a little unsure whether to write this post today, as the anniversary of my DTS graduation or on Tuesday, after I officially complete my first year of university by taking my last exam. I went for t...

Speaking Out Dreams: February 2011

http://speakingoutdreams.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 2 February 2011. New York - Black and White Street Photography 1. This shot was taken just outside the Fashion Institute of Technology. SUCH a great place to go people watching in the city! As I look through my shots of New York, I see an appreciation of the scale and movement of the city, but alongside that, constant reminders that the skyscrapers are only context. It is the individuals, their stories and their struggles, which really make the city what it is. Labels: Black and White.

Wednesday, 13 April 2011. New York - Black and White Street Photography 2. It's been a busy little while and blogging has, once again, fallen by the wayside. I am now returning to finish this series and follow it up with Iceland! It took me a few shots to get this photo, trying not to alert this couple on their walk through central park that they were being followed and snapped by a random stranger! Wednesday, 20 April 2011. New York - Fisheye 4. Saturday, 16 April 2011. New York - Fisheye 3. While I was in New York I hired a fisheye lens for my camera. I got a special offer because it was Labor Day, or Yom Kippur, or both.I don't remember. Either way, I got 5 days for the price of 1, so it was a good start. Honestly, for urban photography, it's amazing! You can get close-ups of strangers without them realising that you're taking their picture! That's probably enough words, here's a couple of shots:.

A Blog of Half Fullness. However, it has made me think. Is age really just a number as I have always claimed, or does the fact that next year I’ll be rounding up to the next decade bother me at all? How do you feel? For me, rounding up to 40 is exciting. I can’t wait. I’m hoping then that I look as fabulous as some of my 40 something friends. And I’m hoping it will finally mean I feel grown up. A Blog of Half Fullness. Archive for September, 2009. And so I have no theme, and that could prove to be dangerous; very dangerous. So rather than just blather on or go off at a tangent, I will say simply this: I wanted to write on Wednesday, and write on Wednesday I have. It’s not much, it’s not interesting, I grant you. It is, however, writing. And it’s Wednesday. Does exactly what it says on the tin. September 30, 2009. Categories: Musings, Ponderings and Rantings. Five Books Everyone Should Read.

A Blog of Half Fullness. Archive for November, 2009. I’m feeling quite warm and sentimental, and I just wanted to share the love! I’ve never been a stuff person. Material things just don’t get me that excited if I’m being honest. But people, and feelings, and all that wussy stuff, that’s what makes me smile, and what I value most. Sadly, they’re also the things that often require time, and gosh, that’s so hard to find. And the lovely Hull clan (one of whom is just too hunky and tall these days! The early...

I would like to get the Blogenge wheel turning once again, and would like to challenge all Blogenge competitors…oops, I mean contributors… (Freudian slip there) to seek out new members of our happy little band. Celebrity Dinner Party | A Blog of Half Fullness

https://lynzandjimhunter.wordpress.com/2010/04/28/celebrity-dinner-party

A Blog of Half Fullness. What makes a good dinner party? Well for me, it is a mix of delicious food, good wine, great music, interesting conversation and lots and lots of laughter. If I’m being honest, though, the quality of the food and wine are not that important: if the company is spot on, then that can turn quite an ordinary meal into something really special. This week’s Blogenge is ‘If you hosted a celebrity dinner party, who would you invite? Coincidentally, Julie Walters would also receive an inv...

A Blog of Half Fullness. Walk before you can run…or cycle… or swim…. So, somewhere in my fitness quest, during my gentle reintroduction to running (which began on Sunday, and in terms of time and distance, was very short), a random thought entered my head. A voice in my head said ‘Why don’t you do have a bash at a triathlon? 8217; It was a very stupid voice, with no common sense, and it sounded like it came from person with a non-sensical, inexplicable need to do projects and new things. Yep, me. I&#8217...
