Stories of My Firsts. PA and NJ 2014. July 20, 2014. Hunting lifers with a kindred spirit. Passion has a strange way to connect people. After a few enlightening emails, we found a good weekend to meet. The goal was to help George add a few micro species. During the car ride, George told me tales of fishing in Vanuatu, Manzatlan and Thailand, and my eyes feasted upon albums containing species which some I've never seen! It was simply astonishing! Immediately, the darter appeared very different from a John...

http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Stories of My Firsts. PA and NJ 2014. August 3, 2015. Muskies on a beach toy. My friends and I planned a weekend trip to fish for muskies. They had never caught a Muskellunge before, but I had a great little known location where they have a good chance of landing their first muskies. The fishing wasn't as fast and furious as I had hoped, but we still had the mission accomplished easily on Day 1. We'll just inflate it with our lung capacity. On the third cast. Man, we were so stoked! We kept fishing down ...

MuskieBait Adventures: March 2015

Stories of My Firsts. PA and NJ 2014. March 14, 2015. In search of the Simcoe Sasquatch. The Burbot, a freshwater cousin to the well known Atlantic Cod, is a fish that not many people targeted. Often describe as eel-like, slimy, stinky and ugly, these fish get a bad reputation that they really don't deserve. They are one of the harder fighting fish that you can find while icefishing, and if you can find a spawning aggregation, you can be sure of some fast action. As the sun set, it became progressively g...

MuskieBait Adventures: Notable Catches
http://muskiebaitadventures.blogspot.com/p/notable-catches.html
Stories of My Firsts. PA and NJ 2014. I often get asked what are my biggest catches. Trophy fish, to me, isn't really all that important. I won't refuse a big fish, but I don't specifically go looking for one either. Certainly, understanding and patterning trophy fish is extremely important and I'm not taking away any of that, but getting everything just right on the day that you happen to be fishing is a huge dose of luck. Anyways, in saying so, here are some notable catches :). 7', 200lb - estimate.

Fish I Have Caught. Illinois - Day 2. We woke up early the next morning and headed to Kickapoo Creek just outside Charleston. We waded about a quarter mile upstream and set up on a little island that had pools and rapids nearby. This was mostly going to be a microfishing day with a chance at some Hogsuckers, Redhorse, or Longnose Gar if they showed up. There were also really nice Largemouth and Spotted Bass in the pools. My first species of the day, #165 the Sand Shiner ( Notropis stramineus. We spooked ...
