The goal of this blog is to inform, encourage and inspire mothers of children with special needs, as well as those who love and support them. Please share your advice, challenges and triumphs. Tuesday, April 1, 2008. We are the Accidental Experts. Yet today I am an accidental expert. Years of reading books, observing Sayer’s sensory therapy, and being around other children with disabilities has given me expertise I hardly realized I have. Now, as we have absorbed some hard-earned wisdom, we should all ac...

Finally Homeschooling: Confessions of a Serial Curriculum Checker Outer
http://finallyhomeschooling.blogspot.com/2011/04/confessions-of-serial-curriculum.html
Sunday, April 24, 2011. Confessions of a Serial Curriculum Checker Outer. I must confess I had an epiphany last week. In regards to curriculum for our soon to be 4th grader, I need to do a lot less looking. And a lot more doing. Intentions don't equate to learning. Great ideas without implementation don't equate to learning. Unused curriculum doesn't work either. It is time for me to focus on the job at hand. I am putting myself on a curriculum research time out. Poor T. Her holiday is over. Confessions ...

Saturday, June 25, 2011. Just Like Riding a Bike. So, I've learned a little bit this year. My 9 year old learned a little bit, too. She learned her times tables, long division, how to diagram sentences, all about the moon, our planets, our stars, and energy. She discovered a love for fractions and writing. She also finally learned how to ride a bike by herself.at 9 years old. I got my coffee mug and heard a shout, "Mom! Yes, she was. She was riding her bike. Her I just guided. ~Trusty Joyfully~: Long time, no posting!
http://trustjoyfully.blogspot.com/2010/06/long-time-no-posting.html
Friday, June 18, 2010. Long time, no posting! Greetings Dear Family and Friends,. I know it's been a LONG time since I last posted. So much has happened. Where to begin? Perhaps at the beginning. For a number of months I had been tired. SOOOO. Tired I kept attributing this to schedules, pressures, lack of sleep. Just before our 25th anniversary I made a promise to go to the doctor and track down what was going on as soon as we got back from our trip. Which I did. Etc In other words, we're just not sure.

http://trustjoyfully.blogspot.com/2012/01/if-one-tree-falls-on-lawn.html
Wednesday, January 4, 2012. If one tree falls on the lawn. And there are 7 people standing around. Does anyone hear the scream? Not the tree's scream, mind you. My scream. "Watch the stand! It's hooked on the rug! Watch out for the wall! You're going to do what? And so ends the life of our beautiful tree. It now lies in a huddled heap awaiting pick up. Where it will be turned into mulch. Josh suggested sawing it and using it for firewood. But, I ask you, with our rusty handsaw? One to get the tarp,.

~Trusty Joyfully~: Splendor and Beauty
http://trustjoyfully.blogspot.com/2012/01/splendor-and-beauty.html
Friday, January 27, 2012. And, lest you think I'm too sappy, beauty is also present when God gives us strength to tell her "no," or "try again," or any of the other words and phrases we might use when she chooses a poor path or makes a doubtful decision. But, tonight splendor and beauty did describe her appearance. I love my daughter! Sometimes, despite seeing how much she's grown I still catch a glimpse of the precious baby I once held. We had a lot of fun shopping for her outfit. Walking Through the Wi...

Sunday, July 11, 2010. Just When I Think I Can Relax. We got through our week of good-byes. Intact. Well everyone got to where they were expected, at least. We are missing each other and taking a moment to realize that we really do like one another. It's hard work being apart. Our summer has just turned the crazy up a notch. I'm trying to be calm, cool, and collected about our opportunities. Today, however, I just decided I needed a nap. It was just a little much. Why I needed a nap? So assuming that all...
