Laquo; The power struggle. Snakes and ladders (without the ladders). By Dawn L Anderson. There’s nothing fun about depression. It’s not an engaging pastime to be dipped into at leisure, but rather can feel like a board game on which we play over and over again. We roll the dice, but life may load them against us. Ladders are our prize; snakes are the downfalls that lead us to them. Sitting the game out gets us nowhere. The only choice we have if we want to live this life is to keep rolling. Snakes and la...

I love me, I love me not. By Dawn L Anderson. A few weeks ago, every shop we walked into, every commercial break, every restaurant we passed reminded us that the one day of the year when we’re supposed to express our feelings was just around the corner. Valentine’s season is probably a distant memory by now, and prompts to tell someone special how we feel will no doubt be few and far between for the next eleven months. Today, my goal is you. Talk to someone about how you’re feeling. Ask for...No-one Days...

Laquo; It’s not you; it’s me. No-one Days – opening. By Dawn L Anderson. I’d like to try something different today in sharing the opening of my first (unfinished and unpublished) novel with you. Please leave any comments or criticism so that I can start to gauge the kind of reception it would be likely to receive once I’m comfortable enough with the finished article to share it in its entirety. Thank you all in advance! Which bed am I in and which way is it facing? Been running around doing housework!

Laquo; Nothing to be sneezed at. We all need somebody. By Dawn L Anderson. When did it become unacceptable to ask for help? When did asking someone for help flag us as weak? When we’re not coping, why do we carry on not coping instead of raising a hand or a voice and just say, “please”? Why do we expect any less of our nearest and dearest then? What’s holding us back from asking them for the same support that we’d readily give them? 8 responses to “ Help! We all need somebody. 22/09/2013 at 10:28 pm.

Laquo; No-one Days – opening. Snakes and ladders (without the ladders). By Dawn L Anderson. Our track record of victories provides no comfort or encouragement, because it feels like the slate is wiped clean from one day to the next. The knowledge that we’ve faced worst and come out on top bears no significance when we’re faced with the challenge of a new day. By the same token, there is little immediate satisfaction in the realisation that we have survived another attack. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

One thing I’ve come to accept is that recovery for me will be a game of snakes and ladders for a substantial part of my life.
