Split, Spilled and Spoiled. Yesterday, today was tomorrow - but no more. Penning down the little notes and thoughts as time flies by and memories fade away. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. A horizon where it's ever-sunset. I love the hues of crimson-spill. Sprinkled stars, I'd not forget. Around the moon, atop the hill. Drawing us in silver clouds, I. Bring them close, and up we rise. No one stops, or asks me why. When I dream, with open eyes. A field spread out, like your arms. When I dream, with open eyes.

Here goes the words -. Unhe qissa-e-gham jo likhne ko baithe. To dekhe kalam ki rawaani mein aansoon. Ye anmol taare, ye ulfat ke moti. Unhe humne bheje nishaani mein aansoon. Split, Spilled and Spoiled. Yesterday, today was tomorrow - but no more. Penning down the little notes and thoughts as time flies by and memories fade away. Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Duo, in Disguise. For this post, however, let us take one of those songs which do not carry that stamp. A song that - if you did not have prior knowledge of its details - would never make you think that Rafi Sahab is with OPN in the recording room. The duo in disguise, so to say. Maut kabhi bhi mil sakti hai. A song of su...

abode of solitude: A tribute to crime fiction

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2013/12/a-tribute-to-crime-fiction.html

Life is all about trivialities. Thursday, December 19, 2013. A tribute to crime fiction. In the last 2-3 years, I have read a number of crime fictions by various authors. Agatha Christie has been, and will be, my all time favorite in this genre. Leaving her aside, I would like to mention about a few authors whose works I have enjoyed during this period. Tony Hill-Carol Jordan series is also enjoyable. The Mermaids Singing. And Fever of the Bone. And only a few short stories, but his characterization and ...

abode of solitude: Pune Times

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2013/12/when-i-was-leaving-us-for-good-half.html

Life is all about trivialities. Friday, December 13, 2013. The number of two-wheelers in Pune is huge. Almost everyone has a scooter or a motorcycle, or at worst, a Scooty. Previously, I thought that Scooty was strictly for women in India (just like VW Beatle is for US women). But here, men happily ride on a Scooty, and nobody bothers about it. Unofficially, Pune is known as the “two-wheeler capital” of India. Jabse woh cellphone wali bhrastachar aayi hai, boothon ki zaroorat kya hai.

abode of solitude: Satyanweshi: a film to forget

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2013/12/satyanweshi-film-to-forget.html

Life is all about trivialities. Monday, December 16, 2013. Satyanweshi: a film to forget. Yesterday evening, as I was watching Rituparno Ghosh’s last directorial venture “ Satyanweshi. 8221; (The Truth Seeker), I felt sad for Sharadindu Bandopadhyay. He did not get his due respect in the arena of Bengali literature. Moreover, two world renowned Bengali directors have botched two of his valuable creations: one was Satyajit Ray, who murdered Sharadindu’s Chiriyakhana. In fact, in Satyanweshi.

abode of solitude: October 2007

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Life is all about trivialities. Friday, October 5, 2007. Activities in the last two months. I watched Mithun classic Bengali movie Judhdho, where the opening dialogues of Mithun goes like this:. Amaar naam DSP Agniswar Roy, ami jekhane jai, se jaygata prothome gorom hoy, tarpor agun jwole, sesh hoy chhai diye! I think this one piece is enough to name this film as a classic, but there are lots of these types of "classic" dialogues throughout the film. Highly recommended for movie watchers.

abode of solitude: March 2008

Life is all about trivialities. Friday, March 28, 2008. An utterly confused RACE. Director-duo Abbas-Mastan has delivered yet another thriller named RACE! But the question is, what is this race all about? All the principal characters are presumably running after money, which was $50 million in the beginning, but ended up to $200 million! The younger brother wants to kill the elder one, not only for money, but also in order to beat him in the race of life. Over and above, the thriller was so "sleak" that ...

abode of solitude: April 2008

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Life is all about trivialities. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. It happened in 1998, during a winter afternoon. It was before exam time, and I went to see-off a friend of mine after a "study session" - which was chatting and eating mainly - at the Bidhannagar rail station. Bidding him goodbye, as his train left the platform, I was on my way back home, when I was caught at the exit gate by a ticket checker. TC : Ticket dekhi. Me : kisher ticket? Life is all about trivialities. Monday, January 6, 2014. 2013: a quick review. I would like to keep the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) or Mangalyaan, as popularly known, at the top. Although I have no idea about spaceships and rocket science, but I was really feeling happy and proud during the launch of the spacecraft last November. We have made a mark in the world arena through this mission. I would like to thank all the individuals involved in this mission. Eleanor Catton received the Man Booker prize in 2...

abode of solitude: My favorite trio

http://abodeofsolitude.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-favorite-trio.html

Life is all about trivialities. Tuesday, December 10, 2013. In the last few years, a number of strong actors have emerged in the Bengali film industry. Their presence has encouraged the directors to deviate from the usual “formula 44” route and take a few risks, most of which have been successful. I would like to talk a little bit about some of my favorite actors of recent times. Let me start with Saswata Chatterjee first. I first watched him in the Feluda movie Baksho Rahasya. Have also been hugely succ...

Life is all about trivialities. Sunday, May 11, 2008. Of serials and childhood memories. In my childhood days, the serials Ramayana. In the Indian television history, those two serials were the most popular among the audience, and even now, I like to think about them in some nostalgic moments. But apart from these two, I remember other serials as well, which always occupied my "must view" list in those days. The Doordarshan channel (DD1) broadcasted some nice serials, of which I liked Guniraam. Was the p...

Now officially Intel claims that the board will support the Core 2 Duo (C2D) line of processors including the (quad core) Extreme editions (which at the time of writing fetches them a cool $1k! January 07, 2013. Posted at 06:34 AM. April 25, 2012. It was a ridiculously hot day in April! Oh why did we not have a pool put in this past winter.  When it hit 115 last June I knew it had to be done, but nooooo., I just kept chugging along through the rest of the summer thinking that kind of heat was a fluke, not something we would likely deal with again for a while. WRONG! Those of you with ventilated seats are so lucky., I have already called my dealer to price new suburbans! Posted at 07:34 PM.
