Spinning Sheep Tails

Tuesday, July 9, 2013. This little rascal showed up just after four o'clock yesterday afternoon. Evil, wicked looking clouds! 036 inches in 25 minutes. There was some pea sized hail too, and strong wind. Ryegate, the little community just west of here, really got clobbered! Trees up rooted, hail damage, power outages. I was pretty lucky. The deer flies are just wicked this year. Big as crows, at least, and very hungry. Need more bug juice! The Gus and I met up with. Rules for Ranch Dogs. I've been sittin...

Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Sunday was picnic evening. Our firefighters all came. Brought the big grill and everything! Well, not everything. The clouds and storms stayed east. It was a wonderful evening for a picnic. Of course, every picnic comes complete with certain pests. Whats all those peoples doing? They's hasin a party! Lets go. Maybe we can partys too! Hey cows. Hi calves! You all want to join us? What's we having to eat? He's cooking. We're having hamburgers. You know. Ground beef. It could have got...

Spinning Sheep Tails: January 2013

http://spinningsheeptails.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 28, 2013. The Gus exhibits more Heeler behavior than Border Collie when we are around livestock. Actually, out of control Heeler. We are working on it. First I wore him down a bit with about 15 minutes of ball. Then we got the leash, cookies, and stock stick and went to the sheep. I didn't have to threaten him with super glue even once. He stuck his stays. And mostly paid attention. The sheep really like Little Sagebrush. Cactus, not so much. Elliot thinks he's a pretty handsome fella.

Spinning Sheep Tails: June 2013

http://spinningsheeptails.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 30, 2013. I started cutting hay yesterday. The weather forecast is for hot and dry. I only cut one field at a time, let it get a good start on drying and then cut the next. So, I got my best field down yesterday. I took the photos this morning, early. It doesn't look too bad for the rain, so if it stays dry for several days, we'll be good. I love my tractor, by the way. The air conditioning always works (to some extent) and the heater never does :)! Smell the roses (or yucca).". There is ano...

Spinning Sheep Tails: The Gus Explains

http://spinningsheeptails.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-gus-explains.html

Sunday, June 23, 2013. Remember when I was telling you how we have to be nice to the cats? And remember when I was telling you how we have to not eat the cat food? Well, there is this condition among K-9s that our Humans don't understand. It's called Nose Drop. What happens is, as you walk past an object, say, like a dish of cat food, your nose is pulled, forcefully into that object. I mean, you can be almost past and THWANG! Your nose falls into the object. And even worse, I did it again. Sheesh! Perhap...

Spinning Sheep Tails: April 2013

http://spinningsheeptails.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 8, 2013. Robins and Meadow Larks have been chirping and singing the past few mornings, when I first step out just before sunrise. Not this morning. Last night it rained. Puddles worth of rain. Then it snowed. I'm glad I don't have naked sheeps yet! Robert has started to shed and finds the cold wind just too much. He grabs a mouth full of hay and scurries back into the shed. These little guys aren't impressed at all. But they are out of the wind, nestled down in the willows. And there we hav...

July 30, 2015 · 8:13 pm. Almost Heaven, Wickford, RI…. July 30, 2015. Two and one-half months in Wickford, RI! Finally this 90 yr. old house with a rather grown-up yard, is becoming an orderly place. I’m just inside after two hours of digging to plant only two perennials! Finally I’m back in home country. Dirk and I wandered the Town Green, checked out the 4-H sheep of many different breeds, the many food stands from a variety of local churches, grange, Masons, and others. It was a fine two days! She’s g...
